when i click on the red G+ notifications box, i now get 'this comment no longer exists' after every comment that does, actually exist. This started this week. Wonder if it's connected to my internet that keeps disconnecting... probably it's all because of the new inhalers I'm now having to use. Slippery slopes.

I'm losing the internet about every 4 hours. A reboot of the modem fixes it instantly.

Nothing has changed on the network in months. Before this week I probably had not rebooted the router in three months. It's been working flawlessly for the past year. The website lists no firmware update since last July. Comcast says they can't see anything amiss on their end. This is crazy making.

This morning I went in and assigned reserved IP addresses to most everything on the network. I cannot believe that will make a difference but I also don't think it will hurt anything.

If recent history holds, it should go down again about noonish.

---

Not much on the agenda for today. Swimming, of course, and a little work, but not much else.

My flight for CES does not leave until Monday but my work vacation starts today so I'm mentally one foot out the door. But, I have the whole weekend to get ready which is lovely. And, honestly, there isn't that much to get ready. I travel light and this time I'll be traveling the lightest because I want to optimize my breathing. My plans are one rolling backpack. That's it. No purse, no nothing else. And not overstuffed either cause I need to leave room for swag.

---

So today will probably be a little work, a swim, some laundry and mostly waiting for the internet to go down again. sigh.

So... if you reserve an ip address (static) for a device (say a laptop) on the router but do not 'assign' it on the device (the laptop properties allow as how it's using dhcp), have you actually done anything??

ok, now i can see the interruption... my d-link (dir-623) router has a handy little internet light. when all is cool, it blinks. when all is not cool it is either dark or steady. i've just been watching it... it turns solid, i lose internet - not long enough to require reboot for fix but definitely long enough to disrupt things.... just happened about 3 times in a row...
now i'm beginning to suspect Comcast again... hmmm

Between the internet connection issues, not getting any lunch until 2:30, getting an email two weeks after the fact telling me the forms to donate my body after I die are unacceptable and have to be done over, and just now realizing I have nothing good for dinner, I think my cranky pants are sprayed on and won't come off.
Plus, I know 'between' should be about two things and not four like I have in the sentence above and I hate grammatical errors.
Oh and the USB speaker I ordered from Amazon arrived was not the USB version - grrrrr Operator error. So it will cost me more than $5 to send it back and get the USB one...
I'll bet I'm all out of that spray on cranky pants removal lotion, too. Phuque.

But the worst one didn't even make this great list.
Getting up to go do something and the minute you hit vertical you totally forget what it was you got up to go do.

Since my router is demanding a reboot every 5 hours or so, I'm thinking I'll just reboot it on a schedule I built instead of the one it demands. Then I thought... hmmm I could put it on a timer. Turn off then on every 4 hours. Wonder if they make timer's like that... I think I'll swing by a hardware or variety store tomorrow after the pool and do some research.

So far this evening, I've done some CES planning. Last year we waited too long to get to the Venetian. I don't want to make that mistake again.
Also I watched the season premiere of Portlandia. A good one.
Now I'm going to reboot the router and take my audio book and listen in bed.
I am losing some of my cranky. Slowly but surely.
