I didn't sleep quite as well last night. I had a hard time getting to sleep and then kept waking up. Finally I gave up just before 6 and turned on NPR to listen for while.

Then I ran a comb through my hair and threw on some clothes and walked down to MacDonald's for coffee and a sausage biscuit. It's not a really long walk - maybe the equivalent of a couple of long city blocks. Maybe a little longer. I decided to walk because I wanted my legs to remember they are there. Since we aren't swimming, they aren't getting much action.

I walked down there at a normal pace and we fairly winded when I got there. Not horribly but clearly not breathing without thinking about it.

When you are fat, being winded is not unusual, at least I don't think so. The allergist doctor asked me about a dozen times 'did you have no breathing problems before you got sick in October? I kept saying no and then finally realized... 'I get winded with a lot of exertion but I always thought that was because I was fat.'

Turns out, he says, mostly it was not being fat that caused it (being fat didn't help, however)...

But I do know that it used to take a lot more to get me winded. I could walk easily from here to MacDonald's last year without thinking about it. And I could walk the show floor for longer than an hour without running out of steam. This COPD, in me, gets bad when I run out of air to breathe - gasping and panting and when I just go too long and then I just feel vaguely not well and really tired.

I'm trying to pay close attention to these things so that I can 1) be able to recognize any improvement and 2) know when it's getting worse and I need to do something more or different.

But enough lung shit. I think now I'm going to get a shower and get dressed and hit the streets. It's about 2 miles from here to the Venetian. I'm going to scooter it.

Didn't I used to be able to grab the URL of a photo from G+??? I sure can't now or at least I can't see how. That is pretty sucky, G+ I have to reupload them to Flickr to use in my journal? What kind of horseshit is that? (sorry, horses, that was not very fair of me.)

After a nice morning of ooooh and aaaahing and traveling and seeing cool stuff, I decided to grab some lunch and come back to the room to recharge a bit. I wanted to make sure the scooter had maximum juice to get me back home tonight so he's plugged in getting a refresher.

Actually, I'm pretty sure he would have been fine but why not be safe... Plus I needed a break. I was at the Venetian and going onto the convention center seemed too much. I decided that rather than fight those crowds, I'd just save that for tomorrow.

So I grabbed a Nathan's hotdog - oh how yum. I'm sorry now I didn't get two. And back to the room to catch up computerwize. I just checked work email and it looks like everyone's doing fine without me.

I saw some cool stuff today. Here's a few tidbits:

This is a blanket - that portrait is on a blanket. Pretty stunning.

IMAG0035

Electric skateboard. Cutest dudes of the show at that booth, too.

IMAG0033

There were a couple of empty booths this morning but this one cracked me up. I guess the answer to coolhotnot is not.

Also...

The guy from http://www.scottpaultech.com had a cool Cell Handle line of stuff that he had clearly rushed into production to make the show but did not cut any corners - his product is quality, his marketing is good and he was nice. Interesting.

There were two women at a tiny booth for txtRng;) They were very nice, fun and engaging and their product is cute, too. http://www.txtRng.com But, I'm sure I'd lose it.

Oh and probably one of the coolest things I saw was the LapKeyBoard (http://lapkeyboard.com/). Alas, it does not appear they are distributed anywhere yet but they had several models that were just nifty looking. Great idea and I'd love to have one.

I did not really look for or collect a lot of swag yesterday or today. A pen or two and one retractable charging cable and two bags. There were a lot of bags but not a lot of other stuff that I saw except pens. Today the nice lady at http://www.persuedeaudio.com stopped me and asked if I wanted a bag and a pen so I said yes and was rewarded with a quite swanky silver lame bag which I think I'll start using for my groceries.

In the lobby of the Venetian was a luggage shop and this set totally grabbed me... I'd use them as decoration in a bedroom!

Now I think I'll head back out and do some exploring from here to the Bellagio where I'll pick up my ticket for tonight and then find some dinner before the show.

I think tomorrow's plan is to get my ass up early and scooter over to the convention hall (or monorail if the line isn't too long) and do the one building I didn't do yesterday and then declare victory. I need to be back here at 12:45 to pick up the shuttle for the airport.

One thing I love about las vegas -at least on the strip anyway-whenever you have to pee, there's a nice, clean and often elegant bathroom mere steps away.

O was really good. Getting back to the MGM Grand was a bit of a do and now I am pooped. All the better for falling asleep to get up early tomorrow.
