It's still not light enough out yet to get see the full glory but all I can see from my terrace is white. I can see it in the street light coming down steadily.

So it looks like all the preparation and cancellations were not in vein. I'm sure a lot of people are relieved.

And it looks like my new router will not be getting here today. Last night the wireless started getting very flaky. I could not keep it going for more than 10 minutes. This morning it seems a bit better but who knows how long that will last. Everything I use a lot of has an ethernet cable I can plug in if necessary but wireless is so much more better. At least when it works.

Oh well, I'll make it til Thursday.

I have the TV on to watch the snow news but I had to mute it because the audio is just too stupid - it hurts my brain to hear 'journalists' being so stupid. I just looked up to see the camera turned on a laptop screen trying to show a twitter feed. Ok, flipping the channel now.

The best news is window news. I finally saw enough of [livejournal.com profile] earthmother45's beautiful stained glass and contacted her about filling up my transom window with goodness.

Here's the window:

That's a plastic cling you see there now. The window faces east and in the summer the sun can come through in the morning and fry my living room. So I slapped up that plastic years ago. It will now come down and be replaced by artful glass.

[livejournal.com profile] earthmother45 posted the beginnings of the project yesterday in her journal. It's going to be so beautiful.

I think it's time to strap on the boots and get up close and personal with this beautiful snow... even if only for a round the block tour. #seattlesnow

Me and Twitter... on again?
I got a Twitter account when it was brand spanking new and no one was on it yet and I could not figure out what in the world to do with it so I just let it lie.
Then, a few months later, we got snow here in Seattle and I thought 'hmmm, wonder if Twitter knows about this...' To my delight, I discover that Twitter did and I learned all manner of interesting and useful things during that snow storm. I hung around for a few years but I never found a really comfortable way to keep an eye on my feed. None of the clients worked for me nor did the various web options.
And then came Google+ and I unTwittered myself fast. For months and months I barely even noticed Twitter. And then it snowed today. It's the perfect storm of Google+ not having the snow info I knew was on Twitter, having time on my hands to discover two new, interesting Twitter apps and bam, like the prodigal son, I am back.
There seems to be little to no Twitter/G+ overlap which I think is interesting. I'll keep an eye out for a while and see how it goes.
BTW, the two apps I found are Destroy Twitter (a truly stupid stupid name for a very lovely, simple, perfect-for-me feed reader) and MetroTwit which has a much nicer name but not quite as small and efficient looking.

The weather peops are saying that snow here (downtown Seattle) should be stopping any minute now... but they've been saying that for an hour and it's till coming down pretty smartly here...
I was toying with the idea of trying to get to the pool but then found two web cams at an intersection a couple of blocks from the pool and the idea toying came to an abrupt halt. No swimming for me today.

When you go out for a walk - really snow or no snow but especially snow, do NOT leave home without a hit off the inhaler!

I've done that twice today and it really makes walking around not so much fun. I have to stop and catch my breath and it's really a little too cold for just standing around being pelted by snow...

I'm in for the count now... It's still snowing but teensy weensy little flakes. I think we're done. For today anyway. It still is very pretty and kind of fun cause there are very few peops or vehicles out. It's quiet and nice.

I'm still kind of on the fence about going to CES next year (if my going alone is my option) but... I'm catching up on CES podcasts and I know that if, next year, I only 'go' via pod and newscasts, I will be be so pissed I didn't go... I have a few months to decide :)

My new router appears to be stuck in the snow... no change in the tracking info since 8 am today. It "says" it will be delivered by 8 pm tonight. I will not be holding my breath.
Old router is working sporadically. I'm just hoping it will hang on until the new one gets here. (UPS and FedEx have both made deliveries here today... My router, sadly, is coming by OnTrac which has trouble making on time deliveries in dry weather.... sigh.)

School closed again! Yahoo!!!
When I was growing up, I lived for snow days. We didn't have many but the few we did have carried the joy of school closed. I hated school so much and to get a surprise free day off was just the greatest gift of all. Not even the dire warnings of 'you will have to make it up in the Summer' could dampen my joy.
I am now 62 years old. I have not been in school for literally 41 years and just now, when I read that the schools around here will get yet another snow day tomorrow, I felt a little thrill.

Nationally, it must be a real slow news day... NBC, CBS and ABC all had on-the-scene stories with national reporters about Seattle's snow. i've never seen that before even the year we had 18 inches.
NBC showed a yellow Smart Car with chains. My own Smart Car took the day off.#smartcar#seattlesnow
