Peace in the hallway. Ann and Ron live at the end of my hallway. Between their unit and mine live another couple who's name I can never remember. The Other Couple moved here about a year ago from San Antonio.
They were nice but kind of misled on the scope of things. Their landlord lives in Thailand, I think, and they never quite got a handle on appropriate here. Since they were not owners, they don't really get to demand stuff. The Home Owners Association is for the Home Owners, not the people who rent. This Other Couple turned out to be rather high maintenance and whiny with the Home Owners Association so Ann always referred to them as Those People (said always a tone with the most scorn possible).
They are moving out today and she delighted in their having to pack in the dark yesterday. I was just down in the lobby and got to hear the husband of the Other Couple fighting with is moving guy. The elevator came just as they were about to duke it out or kiss and make up. I guess they kissed cause now I see on Front Door TV network that they are moving stuff out.
Ann says a new guy is moving in next week 'as soon as they get the carpet that those stinky dogs fucked up' replaced. Neighborhood fun.
Oh I need to call the Apple store and get the skippy on getting Ron set up. Just did. Turns out that they do not even need an appointment. They can take the new/refurb'd iPad into the store and get their free set up visit and upgrade to the latest os if needed. Yeah. I do think they will love the Apple store service. Those kids will treat him like a king and he will eat it up. Perfect.
I keep forgetting to pull out the stopper arm on my printer so now when I print it shoots the paper across the room. Cracks me up and fascinates Travis.
I decided to give Amazon's trade in service a whirl. I sent them my Transformer tablet. I probably could have gotten more for it on eBay or Craig's list but, the hassle of doing that has kept it in the close now for long enough. So out it went this morning. They do make the process so easy. And, honestly, the trade in price was a very fair one in my book. Gazelle no longer buys much of anything but apple stuff and the couple of other places I found had much lower prices for buyback.
And I trust Amazon. They haven't even punished me with that stupid OnTrac delivery service in a while. If they keep this up, I may have to re-up my Prime Membership after all.
I've got a short list of chores to do today. It's so nice to have a day I can design myself.
My brother is having brain surgery tomorrow. It's a pituitary thing that has been there, probably, for years but now it's coming out. 4 hours of surgery. He won't have to shave his head. Which in his case is kind of a big deal since he has long, beautiful hair - full and nicely wavy which he wears in a tidy pony tail. He is going to shave his beard and mustache and promised me a photo.
His way of not getting freaked out by it is 'what I can't change, I try not to worry about.' He's surrounded by friends and family and has done a lot of planning for coverage at the shop while he's gone and during his recovery. He's covered best case and worst case scenarios as well as he can.
His wife is pretty totally freaked with nearly no way to handle it. I'm pretty sure that his not being freaked is making it even worse for her.
He's been very good, however, ensuring that someone sends me word as soon as they know he is fine - probably sometime about 11ish tomorrow morning.
Meanwhile he says he's really looking forward to his recovery vacation 'sorry can't do it, brain surgery, you understand...'
