I'm up and killing time until the cab gets here in about an hour. I still need to take a shower and get dressed but mainly I'm working on pretending I'm not hungry and thirsty.

IMAG0627.jpgI'm home enjoying a sausage biscuit and outstanding coffee. Yeah!!!

The cab I ordered was a no show (well, actually, I think he finally did show, about 10 minutes late). I tried calling but all I got was a hold message about how important my call was to them. So I walked over to see if there were any lined up at the train station... nope. I was just finding the phone number of another cab to call when one drove by. I suck out my arm, NY style and he stopped!! Nice nice guy, clean cab. Took me right there. I was still 15 minutes early.

But there was very little down time. I filled out forms and then they took me into the pre/post surgery room where a bevy of nurses put a million drops in my eye, searched long and hard and pokily for a vein, asked me about 387,458 times if I was allergic to anything. Then they put some gel on my eyeball and wheeled me into this small bright room where they hooked me up to a bunch of stuff, pumped me full of valium-like (it's not really but that's the word that every one knows, the anesthesiologist told me). They tilted my chair way back and dug in.

It was kind of interesting to watch the light change and little patterns evolve. I could hear chatter and every once in a while she (the surgeon) would say 'ok, you might feel pressure' (I didn't) and then it was over. They put this patch on my eye - which, honestly, how hard would it be to make it look cooler - like a pirate patch???

They unhooked me and wheeled me back to the first room where Ann was waiting. They gave me all kinds of instructions. No more eye drops until after I go back for my post surgery checkup tomorrow morning. So all I have to do today is not take the eye patch off and not do anything strenuous.

So Ann took me to MacDonald's for sausage biscuit and coffee both of which taste heavenly.

I've only got one eye so seeing is a little limited but not that much. My cone eye feels like it needs to be rubbed which is, I'm sure, why the cone is there ... to remind me not to. It feels a little uncomfortable but just barely.

I am sorry I can't see the results today but whatever. At least my appointment tomorrow is earlish in the day.

It looks like I will have some work to do here in just a little bit.

All is good. I'm ready to get the other eye done now.

there is little more satisfying that getting a solicitation phone call, hanging up, and then going to google voice to block that number. i totally understand that it's probably a futile effort but it's something and it's satisfying.

it just occurred to me that th reason I have not heard anything about Howard's space trip is maybe the same reason why I never see Penny (or Bernadette) at the Cheese Cake Factory... hmm conspiracy???

Computer patches are annoying Eye patches are annoying. My friend, Gail, said the nicotine patch was annoying. Patches are annoying and I want this one off!

13 hours to go - yes I'm counting.

My eye feels better by the minute. Now it kind of feels like it's just been open too long and it needs to close. I kind of wish they had taped the lid shut rather than this stupid patch. But I am sure that tomorrow morning it will be fine. Yeah!

My other eye is working hard and fairly well. Reading a paper magazine is a bit challenging but seeing this computer is not bad and I was able to work all afternoon. Knitting is a little tedious but I don't generally look at what I'm knitting so it's doable.

I have had an annoying problem on one computer for a while now - the photo montage screensaver was not working right. I spent some quality time with it tonight and I believe I found the problem and fixed it. Score!

They gave me a card to keep in my wallet that has the details of the lens they put in. Now I can feel free to be murdered without ID and know that the morgue doc can track down my identity by the serial number on the lens. Watching too many police shows on TV? Probably. I am not carrying another card, though. I might QR code the info, tho.
