I need an app to manage my cloud drives.  Or at least a good plan of what goes where when.

Hilarious listening to Leo Laport, Jeff Jarvis and Gina Tripani, rip Newsroom and Aaron Sorkin to shreds - on +TWiT 's This Week in Google.   They have nailed the problems.

"Hurry up and get the car out while it's raining so hard.  Let God wash it!"  Nobody loved a free car wash better than my Mom.

While Seattle is known for rain, we really rarely get 'real' rain.  We have many many cloudy days and many misty days.

But if you see what we used to call a gullywasher - especially one with thunder and lightening - you are seeing Seattle in a movie or on TV (where those kind of Seattle days are very common).

In Real Life, this happens maybe once a year or once every other year...  and today.  My car is very clean now.  I was getting ready to go to the pool when the bottom fell out so I hurried to make sure I got the maximum use of the soaking.  Success!!

---

I invented a cellphone pocket in my jeans and it works beautifully!!!  Twice now, my phone has fallen out of my jeans pocket.  Not good.  So I made the pocket deeper BUT I also sewed in a half inch so now I put the phone in lengthwise and then twist it around horizontally under the sewing and that 'locks' it in!!  Genius!!  I tested it out and it's perfect.  Now I'm going to do the other pair.

---

Color me Google.  Today I sold my Kindle Fire and ordered a Nexus 7.  I got the fire because I wanted backlit/color Kindle.  But it's just not Android enough.  It's close but last night, I was reading a magazine on it and I wanted a copy (electronic or paper) of a recipe in the magazine that I could give to Chef Anita.

I was locked into the Kindle and I couldn't get out.

The magazine experience isn't good enough yet so I'm ok with giving that up and I know that the Kindle app is great so I'm not giving up my books.  And I'm keeping the backlit just getting it in a lighter/thinner package.

Hope they start shipping soon.

I have had a love/hate with Sprint insurance since forever.  They have now raised the rate to $11 a month and the deductible to $150 but I was afraid to drop it (once you drop, you can't undrop).  Then my brilliant brother (same phone/same plan) asked a friend of his who happens to hold his renter's policy and he told Bill that he has the electronics rider and is totally covered.

As it turns out, the same company (Liberty Mutual) has my condo policy.  So I called.  For $20 a year, I now have  $50 deductible coverage for anything except 'willful destruction'.

I could not get to Sprint fast enough to dump that coverage.  Done and done.  Whew and yeah!

Why in the heck didn't I figure this out years ago?????

I think he very much lived in the moment, when he didn't need to be planning. And I think the moments were good to him - because he was good to them, and because he was focused on what could be done, what he wanted to do, what he was doing.

[livejournal.com profile] kyrielle has an entry today that is a beautiful remembrance of her father-in-law.  The above quote is from it.  It is a sentiment I do not want to forget.  I love anticipating upcoming events as much as the next guy.  And I am eternally grateful for 60 years of marvelous memories.  But missing a moment has always seemed so sad.

I want to make sure I notice every moment - I want to be kind to each so each will be kind to me.

Our local TV news teams can make drying paint a melodramatic, tear jerking story.  There's a talent there.  I only wish it was a wasted talent for which there was no use.
