Catching up

Way last forever ago, when I got word that Ira Glass was bringing his 'behind the radio show' act here to Benaroya Hall, I bought the cheapest ticket they offered... $30 I think. Last night was the night. My cheap ticket had me perched way way way up high in the narrow loge seats. I have no fear of heights but even so, these seats were really a little uncomfortable. And, honestly, I could not see much other than the tops of heads below.

But, it didn't matter. The house was packed. And he was great. And not seeing him was kind of a bonus. Seeing NPR people is always kind of discombobulating anyway. He talked non-stop and some off the cuff for nearly 2 hours and not once did I check the time or wish he was done. It was clear he had done this before and had prepared text but he also interacted with the audience and as much was extemporaneous. He was clearly amused at the audience's reaction to a Jesus joke so he spent more time, apparently, riffing on Jesus than he normally does and remarked that this audience was the least religious of any he'd ever met. This thrilled the crowd. A rather odd bit, actually.

Coming home was easy peasy and in the two hours+ that I was there, the temperature outside had dropped at least 20 degrees which was lovely.

I went to bed on the terrace again but it soon got too chilly so I ended up in my bedroom bed which was fine.

I tried a new place for brunch which was a delight and now I am home and kind of catching up on things. I may change the sheets. I will deflate the terrace bed and put it away. The ballgame is at 1 and the rest of the day is up in the air.

This house was next to my brunch place.... It is just amazingly stunning.
