You are the reason
May. 23rd, 2026 01:55 pmI'm not a people person. There are a lot of people I don't like. But there are some people who seem to spend a lot of energy making sure their position on that list is signed in stone.
The volleyball meeting went pretty well. Linda (the one who started this whole thing because she wants to sleep in), laid out what she wanted and asked if anyone objected. She looked right at me so I said that I did not object but that I would not be playing at later hours. I said that I had been ready for a break anyway so this was fine and I wanted to swim early so this plan - of playing later - worked out fine for me.
There was discussion. Wally asked how long I wanted a break for and if I would ever consider coming back. I said I'd absolutely consider it and I didn't know how long. There was discussion and one of the other players said he was dropping out but mainly for skin reasons. There was talk about new players and they all seem to think that they would get new players if they started after 8. BUT they need to stop no later than 9:30 because of other stuff scheduled. So there was more discussion.
About the time I was getting ready to excuse myself because I had no more to contribute, Wally suggested that we just put the whole thing on a break until Steve's foot healed and then revisit. Everyone agreed that that was the best course of action. I said I'd send out a note to everyone. We ended the meeting.
I got home, I sent an email to everyone. I got a response from one so I know it went out fine. 5 minutes later, I get an email from Linda saying "would you send out an email to everyone about the volleyball decision". Check your fucking inbox, jerk.
But, mainly, whew. I am off the hook for now and really for as long as I want. Nice.
On the down side - we're in the 5th inning and the Mariners are losing 5-0.
