soooo frustrating

susandennisI was able to get it into safe mode and but now I can't get it to restore. It goes all the way until it says 'shutting down' and then it just stays right there. I've had it there for as long as 30 minutes.
Davemoo gave me the idea that I had not given boot from CD a good enough try so I tried that again. This time I got nearly instant action when I 'hit any key'. It loaded up the files and then gave me the Vista background screen and a big fat mouse arrow and stopped. I gave that 30 mintues.
Now I'm trying safe mode/system restore again. This time I picked the restore point that I created manually just after I got the system up and running the first time. It is, once again, stuck with the circleand the 'shutting down' words on the screen. I'm leaving it for tonight.
Not sure what's next. Maybe one of my brother's tech's can help tomorrow.
