Better Day

Today has been much better at work. I've gotten a lot done and done a lot. I'm still fighting the domain name battle on two different fronts. My company owns 13 domain names. One is being held hostage at Verisign. 11 are being held hostage at register.com and one is fine and fixed and happily residing at DirectNIC. At the rate I'm going, I'll be lucky if they all get fixed in my lifetime.

So last night I decided to move my webcams. My Mom get such a kick out of watching them, I thought I'd give her a different view. But, the cords are too short to do much. So this morning I decided to order longer cords. I did but the place I ordered them from soon sent me an email saying they had cancelled my order because they don't accept Discover cards. Now that's great marketing... They could have mentioned that on their website... OR they could have asked me for a different card... OR OR OR. Instead, I went looking for a new place to buy them.

In further shopping, I looked at hubs as an alternative and realized I have one at home not being used at all. So why don't I just use that? And, heck, it will accommmodate 4 different USB devices so why not add a camera? Off to overstock.com - one of my favorite haunts and there was a perfect addition at a perfect price and I ordered it.

So... tonight I'll hook the two I have now up to the hub... and probably find out the hub won't get it for these devices and then have to order the longer cords anyway. Oh well.

Yahoo! Both cameras turned out to be ok with the USB hub! Very cool. Wanna see? Now I need to conjur on where to put the third one... My software is not wild about running these two together, wonder what it's going to think about a third one...

Oh and blinds are closed because it's 90 degrees outside. The last time it was this hot in Seattle it was 1997. It's supposed to cool off this weekend so, hopefully, I can raise the blinds again. Having them down makes a huge difference in inside temperature. I have a portable air conditioner but I hate to bring it out so early in the year... But, I will if I have to!
