One really frustrating thing and one very cool thing and the rest was in the middle.

I odered corporate post-it notes eons ago. I ordered them for promotional purposes and also because I end up sending out packages to customers where a nice post-it would be far better than a formal letter but letterhead is all we got. So I ordered post-its. My vendor (who was already on her way to becoming my ex-vendor) screwed up the order 8 ways to Sunday. I was ready to kill. Finally I got decent artwork and approved it. The post-its came today. Do they look like the approved artwork? No. The logo is supposed to be in the center, very large and very very faded. The logo is - on 1000 post-it note pads - in the center, very large and not very faded at all. So basically, I have post-it's that are not suitable for writing on. What in the hell am I supposed to use them for????? Decorating a paper Christmas tree???????

On the up side, I do have a second vendor who is quickly climbing up the charts. It should not be this difficult to spend money. It really shouldn't..

And even more on the up side I made major progress on what I thought was going to be a life long quest. My company has a web product interface that our customers use. It was created and is maintained by the engineers who are brilliant except in the area of how things look. We also have an external website for marketing that is created and maintained by me. I am not brilliant but how things look matters a lot to me. And, also what matters is that right now the two websites look like they have never ever even met each other... not like they are two parts of the same company. Our customers must think we're bi polar.

When I first joined the company about 18 months ago, I suggested that this discrepancy could be fixed. The product planner agreed to take it on. The guy is not a fast worker. Finally this week I took matters into my own hands. I talked to the VP of engineering who said that if I could redo the style sheet!! YAHOO!! And I did. Today. And wow. I am so jazzed. I have a little more work to do today and need to get a crisp version of the new logo in the right size (physical and byte) and turn it over to them. I'm not doing the dance of joy quite yet, but I'm telling the piano player that break time is over and he might just need to get ready!

Psghetti for dinner.
