I finally got around to updating Mom's finances this morning. She has stocks, bonds, annuities and they are kind of spread out around different brokers so I put them all into MSN MoneyCentral so she can watch and look at see them any time. She really likes tracking the stocks. The majority of her stuff is in the trust that Daddy left. I am the trustee so once a quarter, I get a big fat tree-killing package. The people who produce it are the kindest, nicest luddites in the world. They have nothing even close to a digital version they can give me. But, it's ok. They take wonderful care of Mom so it's a trade off.

Anyway, I did the duty this morning and I'm cool for another quarter.

The laundry is laundrying as I type this. And next I'm going to gather up all the trash and wander on down to the dumpsters.

And take my magazines. About a year ago, so creative soul put up a magazine rack in the garage. People put their magazines there when they are done with them and grab whatever interests them. It's a fabulous system. I get People and More and a couple of others. I pick up the Advocate and Women's Day and miscellaneous others. Today I have some to return and some to add.

And then I'm thinking about devoting some time this afternoon to Hugh. About A Boy. Maybe.

I don't usually watch movies more than one time. But, I enjoyed About a Boy and I have this serious Hugh Grant thing going so I watched it again this afternoon. I think the cogent part of this is the first sentence. I'm just not built for reruns.

But, the DVD did have an English to English glossary. Cute idea but they didn't do a very good job.

And it was nice to see Hugh again. I think I'd rather see him on Parkinson or Actor's Studio, though.

Back in the olden days when I was a newspaper reporters, one of the big perks was the police scanner. It was always really interesting to hear why the cop car was whizzing down this street or the ambulance going that way. I've missed it especially here downtown where we get a fair amount of mysterious emergency traffic.

Well, some cool soul on LJ -- in the Seattle community - posted a link to a website where you can just hit enter and get all of the recent emergency calls. I just heard a siren and gave it a go and found the answer:

2/23/2003 12:10:45 AM F030012291 1 A5 M10 800 OCCIDENTAL AV S ,SEA near S KING ST [SEAHAWKS STADIUM] MEDIC RESPONSE

Occidental is the street between me and the parking lot. Wild. Love it. Check it out!
