Busy busy busy day
Jun. 18th, 2003 03:07 pmToday has been a heads down day. I'd still be heads down but realized a minute ago that I had done all of the DoRightThisMinute tasks and I could now take a little break.
Work took a dramatic turn for the better today. Last week, when I had my review, I asked my manger for two things. 1) A one on one meeting every other week and 2) Fridays off instead of a raise (no one is getting a raise until probably next year).
Today was our first one on one meeting and wow did she ever get the point. She had a list of stuff to fill me in on and one of those was my request for Fridays off. She said that she had proposed it with full support to the guy who makes the call. His initial reaction was that he wasn't crazy about the idea but couldn't think of a good reason to say no. He said he'd ask around to make sure no one objected and get back to her. She said that if he comes back with a 'no' then 'you and I will work it out off the books'. Yahoo!!!
She had lots of good information about things going on and lots of good g-2 on other people and other happenings. In one hour I went from feeling like bottom of the tank fodder to a respected and worthwhile employee.
There is a lot of stuff to be done but I'm ready to tackle it all now. Nice. Really nice.
