Retail Crack
Aug. 21st, 2003 07:52 amI have a serious and cronic condition. There are certain stores that when I get near them, physically separate me from my money. The worst offenders are KMart and Walmart and Target. (I think I pretty much have Costco under control if I'm focused.) I have no control when I get in there. None. I'm a little better with a Target but not much.
Fortunately, there are none of these stores within easy access of me. My Mom lives 2 miles from a Walmart. But, since I never take luggage when I go to visit, I can only buy what I can fit into my purse.
This morning, I realized that while need a few things, the list is not long enough to justify a Walmart run yet.
BUT now I find out that Seattle is getting it's very first Fry's next Tuesday. Now Fry's is the KMart of everything technical, digital and cool. When I lived in California, I lived in Fry's. I'd get there when the doors opened on Saturday morning and walk the grid from the front of the store to the back - in a total retrail drug enduced haze.
The new Fry's is very near Walmart. So if I'm going to go to Walmart, I need to either go before Tuesday or just get a motel room and make a week out of it. Sadly there is an IKEA in the same area. I should refinance my condo before the trip.
Sigh.
