Thursday...
Aug. 26th, 2004 08:42 amSo, this morning, I'm on the bus, reading the paper. I'm all comfy in a window seat with the other seat for my backpack. The usual crowd is on board. It's our usual nice ride into work. I hit the local section of the paper and read that I'm so wrong! Turns out the riders on my route are all upset. Seats are very hard to come by and the bus is way over crowded and now I have to worry about adding another stop on the route. It's very strange to read about your very own bus route... Of all the bus routes in all the world, etc.
The answer, I'm sure, is timing. I take either the first route of the day or the second. I pick it up at the first stop. I rarely even have anyone sitting beside me. The home trip is the same... I pick up the homebound bus in mid afternoon. Plenty of seats. They are talking about adding a stop in Capital Hill which is a fun neighborhood. If they added one there, that would be another hopping off for exploration option for me. It's all good.
It turns out that, in fact, I am on the call-a-day program with Mom. I've decided that it's ok. For the past two days she's called while I've been on the bus. I tell her I'll call her back in 10. It's not only hard to hear on the bus, I don't need my bus buds to hear my end of the conversation. The walk from the bus to my office gives us enough time for a nice little chat. I think she's getting a little bored which is probably a good sign.
I'm using a new spell checking program... AsYouType - it works across all software and so far I like it. My spelling handicap has, over the years, increased my vocabulary considerably as I search for easier-to-spell synonyms but invariably I tank on words that must be used and I can't spell. Most of my software has some sort of spellcheck but all of them work differently. I'm hoping that this one will be the answer - one system for all... ahhhh
