Everyone has their limits...
Oct. 31st, 2004 09:21 amAnd my brother hit his at about hour 30 with Mom. He apparently had trouble setting up the modem on her computer and then setting up the connectivity but hit the wall when he went to set up Mom.
He is not the goodest explainer and she is not the goodest explainee and it takes them about 2 sentences to get off track.
She keeps unplugging her phone and he says she won't listen to him when he tells her not to. Now, really, I don't think she stays up at night remembering to unplug the phone. If she's asleep and it rings and she doesn't want to answer it, she ignores it and goes back to sleep. I've never in my life known her to unplug it. But, he says she does.
I'm thinking that possibly there may be something else going on... Like the cord is in the way or she thinks it's something else. But he lost patience way before getting there. And she can't connect to the internet without closing and opening her browser and her email - he says... ???
This morning her phone gave me a busy signal. I finally gave up. His email says it was working fine. Hmmmm.
Poor guy. He tries but he can't ever quite get all the way there. I haven't gotten Mom's side of the story. When I came back from my walk there was an email from him saying he was out of patience and leaving and an email from Mom saying the phone was fixed and to call. So I called and they were still there and eating - apparently in her room. She said she would call me later.
Who knows. Thanksgiving is going to be a busy trip, I can tell.
My walk this morning was ok. It is cool but the stupid sun is blazing and it got too hot too fast for me. The 'hood is hopping with football fans.
I have to update my knitting page and add my pix to Buzznet and get organized.
I have some couch-sitting, tv-watching, knitting to do. My new afghan is a cheery sky blue. The yarn I best like to use (best because it is machine washable, a nice weight, inexpensive and very very soft) recently got some new colors for the first time in forever. I got the lime green and the sky blue. Sometimes inexpensive yarns change texture with colors but these are as soft and the old colors so I'm tickled.
Oh and swapping the couch and the chair for the winter is working out fine. Way more room for me, cats, knitting and computer. No territory fights. Whew.
