I'm ready

The air conditioner is in and ready. I've had this puppy for about 8 years now and while it's not attractive and a bit unwieldy and not terribly efficient, it has saved my hot sweaty ass every year an I'm so grateful.

I only have one option for the exhaust hose and that's the sliding door. The first year I created a frame for the hose out of foam core - it was a horribly messy and very ugly affair. The next year, I remembered this old cat door that I had gotten on sale one year. The cats never liked it and I never really needed it. So I cut out the flap and used it. It took me several years to find the best way to modify it and finally I hit on foam. You can see how I did it in 2003.

But, this year, I tidied up my act considerably. I'm quite proud. 2003 on the left. 2005 on the right.

Next I guess I'll tackle the TV cables.

Ok, now the TV is totally recabled. I only eliminated two cables but I did swap out some unnecessarily long ones for shorter ones. And I untangled some but, mainly, I reconfigured everything.

Now, I can now rotate through 4 different views - basic cable, Series 1 TiVo, Series 2 TiVo (w/ digital cable), DVD/VCR. Each one can be on a different channel and I can flip back and forth and operate all from my one ($15) universal remote. I'm a happy camper.

When John comes tomorrow, I'll get him to help me move everything back to the wall.

Now I guess I'll go to the grocery store.
