Better Day

Ok, so Jake is spending more time in his spot and has not had to be manually jettisoned off the desk once today.  Currently, he's checking out the wet towels that are sopping up where it was raining inside a little bit ago...

Yep.  This morning it was raining outside and on my terrace.  Several weeks ago they cut a big hole in the terrace ceiling as part of the work they are doing on the floor above me.  It was raining fairly heavily through that big hole.  I called the building manager to let them know.  Poor guys.  I was not the first and, apparently, was a bit more sympathetic than most.

The main guy came right up to inspect.  The carpet was already ruined but they rolled that up to expose the drain which helped with the rain runoff.  And we joked that at least it wasn't raining inside.

Ha.  Not 10 minutes after they left, it started raining inside.  Of course.  Just where the sliding glass door track is.  They came and sawed an even bigger hole.  And, naturally, the guy with the saw timed his work to perfectly coincide with my conference call. Lovely.

It's just about stopped dripping and I think they've fixed the problem.  And there's no damage to anything except the terrace roof and carpet.  The carpet was cheap and is easily replaceable and I suspect they will pay for it and the ceiling they will fix.

Oh and the head building manager guy said that the carpet cleaners would be here on Friday to give me a free (paid for by the contractors who fucked up) carpet cleaning on Friday.  This is from the last time it rained inside.  I actually had no carpet dirtying but the building manager pointed that it would be silly to turn down the offer at that price.

I have to go back to the eye doctor tomorrow about these test contacts and I can't figure out what to tell her.  They are a bitch and a half to put in. After 3 years of wearing one only in the right eye, it takes me hours to get one into my left eye.  Plus, half the time I can see much better with these and the other half of the time it's much worse.  I think I have imagination issues.

Back to work.
