Not much...

Not much going on here today.  Work is slow as in there isn't too much of it.  But, I did pick up another website to produce for the next six months.  I'll probably have that kick off meeting next week.  Also next week some of the other projects will finally emerge from holiday slowdown.  I'm thinking that probably by this time next week, I'll have more on my plate than I know what to do with.  Fine by me.

My sister-in-law, Trey, has been very good about sending me Mom updates.  And while Mom's better, she's a long way from recovered and may never get there.  Her system is just not strong enough to fuck with much.  Currently her blood is too thick for the doctor to be happy so she could do an Ariel Sharon at any time.  (And can't they just let that poor guy go already?!  Geesh.  It sounds like they are just torturing him.)  And she's not eating - no appetite.  So there goes brain cells.  And she has a lot of fluid build up which impairs her breathing and starts working on her heart which ain't in that good a shape to start with.

But, hey, talk to her on the phone and you get 'oh I'm doing fine...'.  This morning she called about a piece of mail she got and she actually didn't sound all that fine.  She said she was but she also was not too sharp and was clearly not thinking clearly.  And she said that Trey's rental car had a flat.  That has to be annoying.

And, speaking of annoying, neck and shoulders are sooo sore.  I'm sure it's poor posture, too much computer time, not enough exercise, old age, fat, and attitude.  I'm also sure that I have blood clots in both legs and maybe it's not muscles, maybe my lungs are broken.  Anyone have a cigarette?

My Fed Ex package is on the delivery truck and headed to the correct address - or so Fed Ex says.

Oh and lastly - for this entry at least - here's today's excellent find....  Gynormous URLs have long been slimmed down by TinyURL but now there's a new stud in town...  urlx - and he's cute.  Sometimes my lack of loyalty is shocking!

I just had a most flattering and uplifting conversation with the project manager at work.  I'm kind of having a Sally Fields moment here.

Mom's card from Humana (her new drug insurance) finally came. Trey snagged it up, ran it up to Mindy the pharmacy lady (when you live in Assisted Living, your drug pusher is named Mindy...  And I'm guessing she has zero tats), and the card is now safely in Mom's wallet.

Trey also reports that Mom got actually dressed today - out of her nightgown and robe and is cracking wize about my sister's upcoming visit.  Those sound like key indicators of better health to me!

I've been kind of futzing around here and there today.  Not really accomplishing much of anything and not feeling at all guilty about it.

Some days are just like that and I'm ok with about it.

The condo building manager just called me to make sure I did not want a free carpet cleaning in the next round (in a few weeks).  I told him that [livejournal.com profile] countess_shell said no so no.  He said ok but if, in the future some time I wanted my carpets cleaned - they owed me a free one and just to let him know when I was ready!

Then he asked me when I wanted the new terrace carpet installed (and I thought I was going to have to fight to get them to replace the carpet...).  I suggested we wait until after everything was finished and he said fine and then also suggested that we clean the drapes that are out there to hide the storage stuff.  They got wet on the bottom when the drain backed up and they look kind of dirty.  Won't hurt to give 'em a wash and he said he'd take care of it.

They have to replace the terrace ceiling and then replace the wall in the living room and paint.  He said it would all be finished and done and I'd even get to use my fireplace again maybe by the end of January!!

All in all, it hasn't been so bad.  It would have been nice if there was no leaking in the first place but at least it's all getting fixed and it's not costing me a dime.

And except for the Fed Ex package which is still MIA...

Waited all day, of course, for the freakin' package from Fed Ex.  I saw no fewer than three Fed Ex delivery guys deliver to this building today.  But not my package.

Finally, after 5, their website allowed as how they still couldn't find the address.  So I call again.  The nice lady assured me that they would deliver the package on Tuesday.  What The Fuck?!

At my request, she connected me with a guy here - here being relative - he's in Auburn which is down the road a piece.  About an hour actually.  He offered to find the package off the truck when it came in and hold it for me if I could get to Auburn tonight by 7.  If I left now, there was no traffic, and I knew exactly where I was going I could not get there by 7.   He said that he didn't know why it couldn't be delivered on Monday.  Notice, please, as I did, he didn't say it could be delivered on Monday, he just said he didn't see why it couldn't be.  I allowed as how I couldn't see why it could be delivered yesterday or Wednesday.

I give up.  I sent a note to the company doing the sending expressive my displeasure.  I'm sure it will show up sometime next week.  It's not a big deal.  No lives will be lost (more's the pity).   But it sure does piss me off.
