Polly called this morning.  She's so great when she calls.  Caller ID tells me it's her.  There is enough time between my seeing that and my saying hello for me to rattle through the possibles:  Mom's dead, Mom's fallen again, Mom's in a coma... a fun list.  But, the first thing Polly always says is "your Mom's fine."  Nice, eh?

Today's call was about Theresa.  Theresa was the woman in charge of Mom's wing of 'the home'.  Theresa was the reason it took me a freaking month to get the proper form to Mom's insurance company recently.  Mom loved Theresa but even she, lately, had come to see that Theresa had schedule a train wreck and was on her way.  Apparently the wreck happened this weekend and Theresa is gone.  Polly said Mom is sad but resigned.

On the up side, our new Clear The Desk chore is working very well.  Mom is just no longer able to keep up with her mail - snail mail.  If she gets something that confuses her the tiniest little bit, she just puts it under a stack.  And everything confuses her the tiniest little bit.  She got a refund check for some clothes she returned to the store.  She didn't know where to deposit the check.  So under the stack of papers it went.

So I asked Polly to sweep in there once a week or more and clear off every piece of paper in the room.  Run it by Mom to make sure she's ok with it and then take it all and call me.  Polly's delighted to be of service and Mom is thrilled not to have to worry about it.  Polly said today when she stopped in Mom had a stack of stuff all ready for her.  Stuck in the pile was the aforementioned check.  Polly got a deposit slip and the check is on the way to the bank.

All is good.  Theresa's replacement is a really nice looking man named Barry.  Theresa was an RN and Barry is an LPN but Theresa never listened and Barry not only listens, he answers email.  And he has - on his staff - several RN's.  I think he's going to do just fine.

I'm trying to coordinate a meeting for Thursday morning for work.  Four people.  I've got three in the bag but the 4th one is critical and I can't get the SOB to read his email or answer my voicemail.  I hate meetings - going to them, arranging them - everything about them is just evil and fraught with peril.
