bye bye clouds
Jun. 22nd, 2006 10:57 amThe susandennis days are done, I'm afraid. No more rain. No more clouds. It's just sun and hot from here to Labor Day. I'm not happy but I can handle it, I think. I have the new air conditioner and a fan and an ice maker. This condo will stay tolerable for another day while its old timbers and masonry heat up slowly. It's been a good June.
Now the perky weather people will start talking about how wonderfully perfect the weather is. That will last until the second week in August when even they will start bitching about the heat.
Then, the week of Labor Day, it will get better. And better until finally I can put the duvet back into the duvet cover and comfort returns.
Always before, this is the time of year when I am grateful to be working in an office with free air conditioning. Not this year. But two months is nothing. I spent ohhhh soooo many years sweating my brains out in the heat and humidity from April through October in the southeast. I remember months on end when it was too hot to change your mind.
I can handle this and I will. Bye bye clouds. I'll miss you. Come back soon, now, ya hear?
