susandennis: (workout)
Today was truly uneventful.  The crowd was slim and the regulars were there.  Ms. Queen Bee didn't take up too many machines.  One of the two regular hunks was missing so I had to make do.  Oh well.

30 minutes on the treadmill but the sun broke out after 15 mins so I had to change machines.

When I say uneventful... I really mean it!

But... still Star-worthy.

Here's yesterday's baby... with her adoring fan... When Christina was holding the baby, Anne (baby mother) said she wished she had her camera. So I pulled mine out...

Daddy had no hobbies - well, that's not true.  Drinking scotch and playing gin rummy and backgammon were his hobbies.  But they weren't like golf.  They did not get him out of Mom's hair enough to suit her.  So he adopted old ladies.

He delivered Meals on Wheels religiously and made sure that everyone on his route got a full dose of his undivided attention with every meal.  (The letters they wrote after he died were just amazing.)

And he had his special girlfriends.  Usually about 4 or 5 of them.  These were elderly women who had no or far away family.  He'd just go to their houses and sit with them and just listen and visit.   At least once a week for each one of them.  I'm not even sure how he found them.  I know some were through church and maybe some were from Meals on Wheels but he always had a steady stream of them.  He treated every one of them as if they were precious jewels and they loved him to death.

I would never ever have the energy or patience to do something like that but today I think I may have found the susandennis equivalent.  The Twilight Wish Foundation is make a wish for seniors.  You can find individual wishes that need funding.  This morning I fulfilled this wish:

Helen G., Age 94 Doylestown, PA
A long time volunteer for the blind and Meals on Wheels, Helen is now depends on an electric wheelchair to get around. She spends most of her time watching tv and is an avid Philadelphia Phillies fan. She would love to go to a game and meet some of the players.

I do hope she gets to go to a game.  The Phillies need all the fans they can get.  And, while my team is currently on a winning streak, I sure know what it's like to love a losing club.

If these folks don't inundate me with solicitation requests, they may well have snagged themselves a regular donor.  They sure make it easy.

I finally got around to watching Happy Feet today.  It was well worth the $.99!  Oh, wait, it was free.  I love this.

I finished off all the work that I thought was going to take me all weekend.  I have a little I can do tomorrow but it's not really due until the end of August so I might not.

I did get the sheets changed and the laundry collected for tomorrow and the kitchen cleaned up.

All in all a very nice day.  Except for the Mariner game.  But there's another game tomorrow.
