When my Zen player is fully charged, I get this little plug icon. Recently, I have not seen that plug icon when charging so I googled. I learned that it has one of those batteries that needs to be drained now and again. So, last night, when I finished 'reading' for the night, I left it on.

It has now been running since 10 pm last night. It is 7:30 am now. The battery indicator looks like it has about 20% battery left.

That's a lotta battery life. Impressive.

I love baseball - TV baseball (or radio baseball if no TV).  I like going to the stadium very occasionally.  I like the commentary, my own bathroom, my own snacks, and the ability to pause the game when I feel like it.  I rarely ever miss a Mariners game on TV.

So I have come to know the announcers very well.  We've had some good ones (Ken Levine).  We've had some horrible ones (Dave Henderson).  And we've have a fat roster of ones who are not so bad - at least I don't want to shoot them most of the time.

Last year, we picked up two new ones.  Dave Sims who was on ESPN (and may still be).  He's a sports announcer, not a baseball announcer and he's got no allegiance  to or really much knowledge of Seattle, Seattle sports or the Mariners.   And, he's not nearly as cool as he thinks he is.

And we picked up Mike Blowers who was a so-so player for the Mariners and other teams but who turns out to be a stellar announcer.  He's funny and human and intelligent and knowledgeable about Seattle and the Mariners and interesting (and kinda cute).

Dave and Mike are paired up for the TV announcing from the 4th inning to the end of the game.  They are a good team because Mike is far more better than Dave is awful.

Today - there is a nice little article in the Seattlest - the last bit of the last paragraph is the gem...

If you watch the Mariners for the "athletic" pursuit, we suggest that you pull your head out of an air sickness bag for one night to enjoy a heavy-weight Venezuelan pitching match-up with Felix Hernandez facing Johan Santana. Between this, Dave Niehaus HOF induction, and Mike Blowers finally strangling Dave Sims, it's all we have left this season.
So true... so true...(Niehaus is another announcer who now mainly on radio but has been calling Mariners games since their first season 18 years ago - he goes into the Hall of Fame this year and - as the Seattlest points out - it is getting more press than it would if we actually had a team this year.

I've been working from the time I get up until the time I go to bed for days now. They took our publishing system down for an hour this morning and it turns out I've lost (temporarily, I hope)the ability to do anything else!

I am waiting for a package from www.digital4cheap.com. (My new radio/cd player.) Their 4 cheap bit, apparently, equals 'no tracking number for you!'. They did respond to my email so I got the info that it was shipped UPS ground sometime on or before June 18. Not having a tracking number is really annoying especially now that UPS is using the back door so he's no longer appearing on the Front Door TV Network.

I am trying to order some casters to stick on the little table I use for my work laptop. I found these Roll-Around Self-Stick Wheels which would be perfect except... no one seems to have them. I ordered from from place #1 and they took my order and then told me they didn't have them and couldn't get them. I ordered them from place #2 and they took my order and then told me they didn't have them and couldn't get them. I ordered them from place #3 this morning. Geesh.

I finally did run the battery out on my Zen player - 12 hours. It's charging.

Here's what's been on Front Door TV Network all day.

I did not get my radio today. I did get an email with the tracking number. Apparently the email Digital4Cheap sent on June 18 saying "it has been shipped" actually meant "it will be shipped next Monday". Cheap does not mean fast.

--

Work has been dribbly drabbily most of this afternoon. Not slow enough for me to go to anything else but not so much that it prevents me from a bascillion-eleventy LJ entries today.

--

I'm going to have to switch the channel from Painter Man to Losing Baseball Team here in a bit. Sigh. Scott says they will be back tomorrow - they are only priming today.
