When my yarn place had a free shipping sale, I went nuts. The goods arrived a couple of weeks ago but stayed in the closet until the basket got bare. This is half of the new stash. I love the colors but it's not the softest yarn.

The animal (bunny) du jour is out of the softest yarn ever. It's not my usual stuff and a bit pricey but oh man is it soft. The color is a deep deep purple that is a bitch to work with because it is so dark. I've had the skein for a while and just decided that a grape bunny was what it needed to be.

This journal is a direct barometer of what is happening in my life. Yesterday the only entries were the regular gym and knitting basket ones with the twitter round up. No cogent insights, no amusing anecdotes, no retrospectives. Also, I might point out, no rants, whines or bitches. There's just not much going on. And I'm ok with that.

The heat keeps me still in mind and body. If I don't move, I don't generate more heat. Ditto with the brain, probably.

Work is slow. And even that is ok. With my investments gradually recovering and my second mortgage payoff, I've maneuvered myself into a position of being able to make enough money to live comfortably on with only 20-30 hours of work a week. More is gravy. Plus, I figured out last night that I have 7 weeks (at 40 hours a week) of vacation/sick pay in the 'bank'. And I can use that any time I want. So financially, life is good.

And the weather people are saying that come Friday, we could get a break in the heat. That would be nice.

Today, after the gym and some cool down time, I am probably going to head out of the library and then stop at the Japanese grocery. They have this great second of cold foods. Cold fried chicken, cold sesame noodles, cold calamari and sushi. I'll probably just buy out the section and bring it home.

And at least, as [livejournal.com profile] mixter11nm helped me remember this morning, it is not humid. At all. I am so grateful for that.

Annie is getting a little pushy. 30 minutes on the treadmill. Excellent. That's what we do. 4 days a week sometimes more!

But, now she's wanting to mess with the weight machines and do stretches and she's talking abs. Her eyes were dilated from the eye doctor so maybe she'll come to her senses once she can see straight.

The gym as hopping. Marci and Nadia and Jerome all had clients working them out and the early lunch crowd was filing in.

Now I'm all sweaty and I have work beckoning. I think shower first.

I have two weather widgets on my desktop so that when I get hot, I can at least look at the other one and know that where my brother is, is hotter. I looked at this just now and saw this:

The Alert we have is a HEAT ADVISORY.

There are just too many ways to interpret this and all of them funny.
