This is a bear ass in the making...

It was hot nights like last night that turned me to knitting bears. I used to knit afghans. In the winter it was great, knit a lap blanket while using it! But, in the summer, major ugh.

So I turned to bears and except for the year of Other Toys, it's been bears ever since - five years worth now.

gym report - nadia

We had an actually excellent session. She had me doing shoulder presses and when I got done she noted that I had actually doubled the amount of weight from several months ago. I knew the weights were heavy but I had not been paying attention. All the better to wield that frying pan with!!

The server we work on was going to be down from 11 to 1 so I came back from the gym and got to work - sweat and all (and with Travis on my lap... love me heat and all he says).

Now it's 11 and I'm going to shower and then make a quick trip out to the grocery and the library.

The server we work on was going to be down from 11 to 1 so I came back from the gym and got to work - sweat and all (and with Travis on my lap... love me heat and all he says).

Now it's 11 and I'm going to shower and then make a quick trip out to the grocery and the library.

So last night...

As the Mariners were wrapping up yet another loss, I decided to check one of my TiVo's to see if it still had a network connection. This is an old old TiVo/DVD player that has a free basic subscription so I like it to have access to the network.

I looked and not only did it not have access, it blew up on me and rebooted itself. Nice. A TiVo reboot on a good machine takes a while. A TiVo reboot on an old machine takes for.freakin.eva. But, once it was up, I could not get it connected. So I reached behind and unplugged the adapter and replugged in it. Much better.

Then my work computer lost access to the network - it is wired. So I rebooted it and rebooted the router. Then everything started losing access to either the network or the internet or both. I was going freakin' nuts. Ready to throw everything out of the window. And it was hot and it was late.

Finally, I decided to reboot the modem. The modem was stone cold. Somehow when I reached behind the TiVo, I knocked out it's electricity.

Doh.

If it's not one thing... it's another.

Now I've been to the library, the grocery, had lunch and it's back to work for me.

It is too hot to have the door to the hallway open. The cats are not pleased with this situation. They keep going down the hall hopefully only to return confused. My air conditioner is working beautifully. While it's warm in the outside hall and really warm on the terrace, it's very comfortable in here. Yeah.

Today was a work work day except for one lovely spot in the middle. I have plenty of work to keep me busy through the entire weekend which is exactly how I plan to beat the heat.

Tonight is going to be another ballgame and bear knitting. Surprise, surprise.

All work and no play pays beautifully but sucks the life out of LJ entries.
