Navy blue toes... I love the navy but wow do I ever hate knitting dark yarns. I rarely even look at my knitting while I'm doing it - I do it way more by feel but still when I do look down, I like ot see the stitches. Dark yarn is just too hard to see.

Signed, Old, cranky bitch.

My new pillow is great. So great that I slept right through. My radio comes on at 6 and plays for an hour. I did not crack an eyeball until 7:30. Wow. I must have been tired.

I'm still operating without my contact or glasses. Working on my work laptop is fine but, oddly, this laptop and my desktop are a little hard to see. Not impossible, just a little difficult. I could whip out one of the many pairs of drugstore glasses, but I'd sure like my eyes to not know I have them and adjust on their own.

I'm skipping the gym because I have a walking plan. I'm going to drive to a grocery store about 5 blocks from [livejournal.com profile] machupicchu's house and park. Then I'll walk over and pick him up and we'll walk to the restaurant for lunch. It's about a mile form the grocery to the restaurant so I figure there and back will equal the gym and be way more pleasant. It's a neighborhood I never walk in so it will be different, too.

It's very warm and wet out. Well, very warm is mid 50's which isn't that warm unless you are walking quickly. But, I'm dressed accordingly. Should be fun.

And that's really about it for plans for the weekend. I have not yet decided about tomorrow's exercise... gym or walk/brunch. Nice to have choices and no stress about making them.

According to the map, I walked farther than I would have with 30 minutes on the treadmill, but it does not feel like it. Maybe because we stopped for lunch and stopped for ice cream... Oh well, it counts so there.

And I got groceries. And now I'm home. Caught up on email and LJ. Now I need to put the groceries away and then do some bear makin'!

Putting away the groceries led to making a batch of ginger refrigerator pickles* and then some kitchen clean up... filling the bottom dishwasher and starting it. Emptying the top dishwasher and cleaning all the surfaces. Nice.

Then I decided to hook up my second TiVo via HDMI (it was via RCA cables and I can't remember why). I am working to eliminate some cords in ready for the new set. The hook up would have gone more smoothly had I realized that I used the HDMI 3 port, not the HDMI 1. Looking for it on HDMI 1 led to all manner of totally useless troubleshooting. DOH.

So in celebration of that last victory, I'm going to watch IT Crowd Series 4 which is finally working on my Netflix streaming.

My Ginger Refrigerator Pickles
*1/2 red onion sliced thinly
1 cucumber sliced thinly
2 Tablespoons fresh ginger chopped finely
Sprinkle of salt (I use kosher salt)

let sit in a covered bowl for an hour

bring 1/4 cup sugar and 3/4 white vinegar to a boil and then pour over the top of your cukes.

Refrigerate and enjoy. They stay crispy and good for weeks.
