[livejournal.com profile] howeird left me a very timely comment about exercising before a blood draw. I googled it and came away with a no gym for me today result which actually suited me just fine and dandy. So I piddled around a bit and then went to the doctor's office. I parked at iHop and walked up a small hill (hope that does not count as exercise) to get there.

There was no waiting and I got a really nice blood lady who did not bat an eyelash when I apologized before I even sat down for having the world's smallest veins. Seriously, big ass, small veins (next time I'm going to be more clear in my ordering). She found a likely suspect, whipped out a tiny needle and hit pay dirt with the first try. Talk about someone good at her job!! It took a while to fill up all the vials she needed but I was in and out in half the time and in place of the usual giant black and blue spot in the crook of my elbow??? ... there is nothing! You cannot even tell there was a poke. Amazing.

She did say 'you must have drunk a lot of water'. Which, actually, I had - not a lot - but it did occur to me that they were going to want me to pee so I thought I'd stock up. She says that generally makes a huge difference. Veins, apparently are much easier to work with if you are juiced.

Now why, in all these years, of bad blood draws has no one ever mentioned that??? I assured her that next time I was going to be saturated before I got there.

---

Then on to iHop where I had an outstanding breakfast with spectacular service!

Then I picked up cat food at the grocery store and a message board for my webcam and came home.

I had a work email waiting for me from The Irritating One which I did not reply to (and won't) so I sat down and composed a note to the project lead calmly and tactfully asking how, in the hours she pays for, she prefers me to spend my time - production mainly, then email if time allows or email and production knowing that production time will be compromised.... And I saved rather than send. I actually probably will never send but writing it was very cathartic.

---

I have some clean up to do. Then I might watch the Netflix DVD that came today - You Don't Know Jack. There will be bear knitting.

The camera app I have been using just updated itself into breakage. A subsequent update didn't fix it. I need to investigate and/or find a new app. This native one is ok but I want better than ok.

This purple bear will finish off the Easter Acid Trip Sweater Quartet.

The first Anita quiche I made was good but I don't think it was cooked enough. So, last night, I made another one and cooked it in my Advantium (microwave/oven) which cooks things differently (magically, kind of) for 30 minutes and it was To Die For. The crust was rich and crusty and the insides were a delicate custard. I mean it was perfection.

I have some of Anita's quiche goodies left but no more shells. I have 3 tart tins (which are the prefect size) and I had a box of pie crust soooo I turned that box into three new shells!! I didn't count on as much shrinkage but otherwise they are fine!

Next time I will get the premade pie crust. Anita figured out a cool way to freeze them - basically wrapped in plastic wrap and stacked into a glass bowl so they don't get battered in the freezer. I don't even have to thaw them.

I layer the bottom with grated swiss/gruyere. Then in my 1 cup measure, I whip one egg, add half and half until it looks like 3/4ths cup, add 3 little spoonfuls of quiche goodies* and pop in the Advantium for 30 mins. YUM!

*she chopped up green onions, bacon and I think mushrooms. But when I run out of it, I'll just free style it.
