As the day goes...
Jun. 1st, 2011 11:52 amOver the years I've had friends with toddlers who were little manic depressive ankle biters. Most of the time they were drawing on walls, spilling shit (sometimes literally) and screaming at the top of their lungs. And then, there were the few non-manic times...
Travis, this morning, knocked my hairbrush off the bathroom counter, upended a bottle of pills, and stepped on my expensive Canadian toothpaste tube puncturing it (even tho, I keep his nails trimmed to stubs). But last night, while I was watching the game on TV, this was Travis.

I heard the 'awwwwwww'.

Between nine and noon on the first weekday of every month for the past 4 years and 3 months, I have taken teddy bears to the Baby Corner up on pill hill in Seattle. The drill is the same. I ring the bell, Jeanne answers the door, we swap pleasantries, sometimes she tells me a cute story about one of my bears and then I tell her I'll see her next month and the door closes again til next month.
Until today. I rang the bell. Twice. I called and got an answering machine. Twice. I finally left a message and came home. It was really kind of disconcerting.
I hadn't been home long when she called. She was in the garage when I was there. Oh well. I'll go tomorrow. But, I did get a chance to chat about the new baby and preemie hats. Turns out they don't really need any or many. She said she could use maybe 4 or 6 a month (which is about what I had planned on if that many).
I asked if I should just donate them to the hospitals directly and she said that the hospitals get so many that they unload the overflow on the Baby Corner and that's why she doesn't need any!! ok then! Glad I asked.

In yesterday's conference call they said that the system would be down all day today and most if not all of tomorrow and they would let us know. So I kind of planned on all kinds of wild and crazy things to do today in lieu of work.
Then this morning, they said the system would be up for an hour or two. Just now they sent another email saying it would be up until 4. This group is really not so tightly wound and they are popping straps daily. I am so so so glad I am a vendor.
---
My leg is again way better. I can bed the knee a little more. It was kind of painful to get in and out of the car but it is way better. I'm still skipping the gym. I will likely go over tomorrow and, if nothing else, at least do some stretches and arm weights. But I think I'm several days away from long walks on the beach or on the treadmill.

Now it's back to work!
