Sunday ramblings
Aug. 7th, 2011 12:17 pmI just this minute read a story about Comcast offering a $10 broadband service to low income families. Yeah they are required to do it but still. I like it. A lot. Broadband internet should be a utility like water and electricity.

This morning's adventures were pretty successful. I went to Judkins Street Cafe which is a very interesting place. It was hard to find parking so I assumed it would be packed. It was not packed at all. They had a very limited menu but all I wanted was eggs, bacon and hashbrowns so I was good to go. They had the Seattle Times and the New York Times. I picked Seattle and while the food was slow to arrive, that allowed me to read the paper all the way through which was enjoyable. The meal was actually exceptionally delicious.
Then on to the Goodwill. The Goodwill store was set back between two very tall old and crumbly buildings. Since I was there last - not more than a month ago - they have torn both those buildings down and it was amazingly disconcerting to turn the corner and actually see the store instead of the block of old buildings that used to hide it. Wild.
I stopped at the drop off to add my donations to the pile and then went into the store and spent $23 on dishes. I got some good ones, tho so it was ok. I didn't buy anything stupid and I had a great time looking at all the shit. They have the greatest carts. They are like those grocery store plastic hand baskets but way deeper and on wheels with a handle. I wanted to buy one of those!
Then on to home. OOOOPS! I totally forgot gas - so I veered off and found a gas station and filled up.
I am just before turning 14,000 miles on this 1999 Ford Escort. My brother is going to take it on a BIG (relatively speaking) trip in a couple of weeks - will probably shock the shit out of it. It's only been that far (about 3 hours out and back) once before in its life.
Laundry is landrying. I Goo Off'd the new dishes and they are in the dishwasher. Next up CBS Sunday Morning and the ballgame!
