I'm home enjoying a sausage biscuit and outstanding coffee. Yeah!!!
The cab I ordered was a no show (well, actually, I think he finally did show, about 10 minutes late). I tried calling but all I got was a hold message about how important my call was to them. So I walked over to see if there were any lined up at the train station... nope. I was just finding the phone number of another cab to call when one drove by. I suck out my arm, NY style and he stopped!! Nice nice guy, clean cab. Took me right there. I was still 15 minutes early.
But there was very little down time. I filled out forms and then they took me into the pre/post surgery room where a bevy of nurses put a million drops in my eye, searched long and hard and pokily for a vein, asked me about 387,458 times if I was allergic to anything. Then they put some gel on my eyeball and wheeled me into this small bright room where they hooked me up to a bunch of stuff, pumped me full of valium-like (it's not really but that's the word that every one knows, the anesthesiologist told me). They tilted my chair way back and dug in.
It was kind of interesting to watch the light change and little patterns evolve. I could hear chatter and every once in a while she (the surgeon) would say 'ok, you might feel pressure' (I didn't) and then it was over. They put this patch on my eye - which, honestly, how hard would it be to make it look cooler - like a pirate patch???
They unhooked me and wheeled me back to the first room where Ann was waiting. They gave me all kinds of instructions. No more eye drops until after I go back for my post surgery checkup tomorrow morning. So all I have to do today is not take the eye patch off and not do anything strenuous.
So Ann took me to MacDonald's for sausage biscuit and coffee both of which taste heavenly.
I've only got one eye so seeing is a little limited but not that much. My cone eye feels like it needs to be rubbed which is, I'm sure, why the cone is there ... to remind me not to. It feels a little uncomfortable but just barely.
I am sorry I can't see the results today but whatever. At least my appointment tomorrow is earlish in the day.
It looks like I will have some work to do here in just a little bit.
All is good. I'm ready to get the other eye done now.
