Betty has finally come to the end of her antibiotics and finally I can quit torturing her with food that looks yummy and clearly tastes uggy.  I think it's fixed something.  She's happy and perky and pooping and peeing and I think we're declaring victory.  Next time a vet says antibiotics, I'm saying get our your syringe or no deal.

It's back to the pool across town this morning with my Saturday class. After class, I'm not sure what the plan is.  Maybe some breakfast.

I think my Costco membership expires in February. I want to get there one last time and then I think I'm going to just let it lapse.  I just never use it anymore.  It's kind of silly to keep paying for something I don't use.  I may even make that last run this afternoon.

I have now managed to putter away my pre-pool time and need to suit up and get out the door.

When I was little (like 5ish), my paternal grandparents lived in Chaffee, MO.  We lived in Kansas City so it wasn't too far to go down there for a visit and so we did - fairly often.  My grandfather was amazing and magical.  My grandmother was mean as a snake.  So I always looked for ways to stay away from her.

Chaffee was a teensy town but lively. They had a 5 & dime store (I'm pretty sure it was Woolworth's) and it was a few blocks from my grandparents house.  The town was so tiny that even at 5 I was allowed to walk to town.  Let me tell you, this was BIG. And I could not do it enough. I felt so grown up prancing through town all on my own.

I had an allowance and I loved that 5 & dime more than you can possibly imagine. I would walk around it for hours just looking at all the stuff that I could actually buy with my own allowance!  It was just amazing.

To this day, given a choice of $1,000 to spend at Nordstrom and $100 to spend at Woolworths (I think there is one or two still alive), I'd take the $100 without even having to ponder.

Yesterday coming back from the pool, I saw a nice, new Dollar Tree Store (all items $1) and today, after the pool and brunch, I stopped in there.  I was an entranced 5 year old again. I don't know why but it's like crack to me.  I bought 16 things - a spice jar, toothpaste, a little solar powered dancing flower, little spatulas to dig cat food out of little cans, etc.  It took me a good 45 minutes to make all my selections.  Then when I got home, I opened each one - taking it out of its packaging and, once again enjoying the experience.

I cannot explain it, I just love it.  And it's a way cheaper addition than crack.

So, [livejournal.com profile] badrobot68 weeted that Pike Place Market was a zoo full of peops today.  So I figured they were all there and it was safe to go to Costco.

I think what happened between the time he tweeted and the time I got there, everyone got in the car and went from the Market to Costco.  Holy crapoly. I drove in and knew instantly that today was NOT the day to go Costoco-ing.  I figured I'd just go on through the lot and then back home and not stress about the fools who just stop in the middle of the roadway and wait the 15 minutes it takes for the person who just came out to load up, go back for what they forgot, come back, load their new shit in, load the family in and finally, maybe, pull out.

So I cranked up the radio and patiently plodded my way through.  Then in the third lot out, as I got there, a guy pulled out and no one was parked waiting for him so, WTF, I pulled in.

And then I started the long walk (in my new - ohsocomfie - shoes)...  About halfway there, I decided to pull out my Costco card.

OOOps.  It is back at home with my library card and other shit I knew I would not need at CES so pulled out and left at home.  So, back to the car and back home.

Next week  - on a weekday - will be a perfect time to go to Costco.  I already put the card back into my wallet.
