Using up all my good karma!
Feb. 3rd, 2013 12:11 pmI had planned to go to this one restaurant for brunch but last night they were on the news talking about their Super Bowl crowd... crowd? football? er, no, thanks. So I dreamed up a Plan B.
Serious Biscuit. I haven't been there in a while. If I get there early, it might not be crowded. They have no TV at all. And, it's across the street from The Wonderful Hardware Store and I need a couple of hardware-y things.
So... into the car. I was tired and my eyes itch and i know how to get there but I didn't want to think so I powered up the phone's GPS. And, I'll be damned if it didn't take me a new and WAY more direct way than I ever considered. I found a perfect parking spot without even trying. The restaurant wasn't crowded at all and I got the very best seat in the house - most comfortable and best view.
They have a new baked egg dish with prosciutto and olives which turned out to be so good I wanted to lick the little single serving cast iron skillet. I found out after that they had just added this to the menu last month. It's now my new favorite.
The hardware store was a treat as usual. These folks have the most inventive buyer in the biz and just walking through the store is a treat. I had 3 things on my list and found all three. Plus as I was leaving I picked up a lovely business card for a pair of women who do home repair.
My washing machine closet door has been fucking with me now for a couple of years. I had a guy fix it, twice and twice the fix did not last. This morning I took pictures and sent an email to the home repair ladies and asked them to come fix whenever they could fit me in.
Not bad for a Sunday morning!!
I took an OTC allergy pill in hopes of fixing my eyes. They got real itchy last night. Before I went to bed, I doused them in artificial tears which, of course, were all caked around my eyes this morning, making them itch... ooops. So I went with hot compress with that allergy pill and now I'm waiting for the heal.
I care nothing about football or the Super Bowl. Happily, I have 10 more episodes of House of Cards to watch so I'm cool.

Oh, what a relief
Feb. 3rd, 2013 07:48 pmMy eyes started itching yesterday and today they are still going strong and driving me nuts. I have surgically implanted lenses and I was afraid that I was rubbing my eyes so hard and so often that those suckers were going to pop right out. I finally enlisted the aid of Dr. Google and came up with an over the counter 12 hour eye drop for itchy eyes - Zaditor. Note to self: get some tomorrow - stat!
Then I thought... a few years ago an eye doctor told me to always keep eyedrops in the fridge. I remember it was Summer and even though I thought the guy was a jerk, having a supply of cold artificial tears at the ready seemed like a good idea. So I always have.
I wonder... I looked in the fridge and there was a tiny little bottle of Zaditor!!!! I popped those drops in the peepers and in 30 minutes my itching was g o n e. Hallifuckinglooya. And whew. Seriously, that's some magical shit.
