Aug. 20th, 2013
This day is getting away from me!
Aug. 20th, 2013 02:35 pmWhat really got me behind was the book I was reading. I really needed to find out what happened in the end. So I just finished it before I did anything else. It was great. The Silent Wife. And then I looked up the author to find other titles and discovered that she died, age 65, of colon cancer earlier this year before her debut novel hit it big.
I cannot get that out of my mind. Bad enough that I can't get the book out of my mind. Now I know there won't be another and it's creator didn't even know how much I appreciate what she did. That just seems the very saddest thing to me.
By the time I'd gotten to that point, it was time to leave for the pool. I needed to stop by the library and stop by the grocery. My swim was great and I got my errands done. I have two CD's to rip for playing while I'm swimming. I have the goods to do more eggs. And, thanks to an internet find yesterday, this time, I'm going to line the muffin cups with bacon and then fill them with the egg/cheese mixture. This will be tasty.
I think Zoey is bored. She's taken to knocking shit off tables, dressers, anything she can. She's always making scary noises in other parts of the house. I'm so not interested in another cat. Or a dog. Wonder if she'd settle for a goldfish? My personal thrill at playing feather on a stick really does not lend itself to long sessions of the game. She needs something to do. Right now she's sitting on the ottoman intently watching the leaves on the trees play with the wind.
I should open the door and let her go out on the terrace but it's really too warm out. The poor air conditioner sounds like it's on its last legs. It's moaning and groaning. i'm torn between buying a new one now - seasonal savings?? - or waiting until next Summer. I may explore Home Depot and Lowe's and see if they have any deals. I haven't found anything spectacular online. Wonder if Costco has any. That may be worth a phone call - just did and Costco's a no. Maybe I'll do the Lowe's/ Home Depot research later this week.
And just when I think I'm getting caught up on today, I get distracted by something else. I'm like a freakin' puppy - Oh shiny!!!
I'm going to quit trying.

This afternoon I found this webcam of the baby giraffe at the Seattle Zoo and I'm mesmerized. Other giraffes have been in and out of the room but the baby has been in there for hours now and nuzzled the camera once. I was too slow to get a screenshot.

Kitten and puppy cams are great but I look once and move on... I am totally unable to move on from giraffes.
