I woke up today at 5:58.  I could have gone back to sleep but at least I was more awake than not.  About half the regulars were not at the pool this morning - actually more than half. It was almost eerie. One of the life guards said that yesterday was like that, too.   My swim was good.  It was the second one while listening to a book which I think is going to be a thing. Maybe not every time - I'll likely switch back to music now and again but the book listening  is good.

Today's plans... will start with a trip to Goodwill.  I need a couple of little bowls and a couple of turtleneck shirts that I can cut the sleeves and crop to make into pseudo dickies.  I was window shopping on the internets last night and realized that I could get exactly what I want at cheaper prices at the Goodwill. Happily, we have two within a couple of miles from here.  One is one of those where you buy by the pound. I've never actually been in that one but the other one is a regular store that is full of very wonderful stuff.  It's that one I'm headed to today.

After that, it's back to my regular life.  There's nothing on the calendar this week. I have cranked up the bear work so that the haul this month is very nearly the usual quantity despite missing a week of knitting.  The weekend/end of month day  is going to mean either an early or a late delivery. I'm thinking I may go ahead and take them on Thursday.  We'll see.

There's a phone I have been coveting - a Moto X - that has been too pricey for me to consider.  But it keeps going down in price and today, from noon-1, it's $100 off.  I am soooo tempted.  I do not need it.  At all. Not one bit.  My current phone is fine in oh so many ways.  And I do not need to spend the  money.  Hopefully, I'll get distracted and miss the window.

They have now taken to calling Seahawks fans 'the twelves'.  My new New Year's Resolutions have me thinking that this is a handy shortcut and my clue to hit mute, change the channel or fast forward.  Working fine so far.

Deal Day!

We have this shelf in the garage.  People put stuff on it that they no longer want but other people might.  Some people put crap on it but the crap always disappears so some people must like crap.  Some people put really good stuff on it.  One day I cleaned out my purse drawer and put about 10 purses on it.  They were gone in an hour.   One day I found ink cartridges for my printer on it and other day I found a 10 pound bag of cat food.  It had been opened but not much was gone.  Clearly one cat's EWWWW was Zoey's YUMMMM.

Today I walked by and there, in the original box, was a dual band Netgear wifi extender.  I grabbed it.  Turns out it was brand new and complete with everything.  I have been using an old single band extender that I always fight with.  It's in my closet and has both ethernet and USB plugs and I use both in addition to the wifi.  I fired up the new fancy one and BAM works beautifully - way better than the old one.  A big score.  Amazon's price on them today is $95.

On to Goodwill where I really scored.  4 shirts, 2 spoons and 3 bowls.  All perfect for what I need and a total of $10.  Turns out, while Wednesdays are 20% off for Seniors Day, Monday's are $1.29 for certain color tags.   The cashier explained the system to me.  Every week there is a new color.  Thursday-Sunday everything with that color tag is 50% off.  Whatever is left of that color tag goes for $1.29 on Monday.  The shirts I got were $7 or $5 but I paid $1.29 each for them.

Sweet.  Time to take the tags off.

I decided to buy the phone. But the website won't take my Discover card. I tried for several hours - over phone, over chat and nada. The problem is on Motorola's end.  Discover says they aren't even seeing a request of any kind.  But, the only option, Motorola's customer service offers is 'use another credit card.'  Not happening, dudes, not when it's your fault.  So no phone for me.  Which is really what is best for me.  So fine.

You know how sometimes water gets cloudy?  Like in ice sometimes?  It tastes the same.  I always figured that fog was like cloudy ice.  It's just a molecular change that affects only how the light refracts through it.  And that it was just wet air.  Well, apparently, I am as good at science today as I was in school - that is NO GOOD AT ALL.

Turns out that what fog is made of is really neither here nor there as far as I'm concerned but that fog is an indication of very sucky air and is very likely the cause of my coughing so much on foggy days!  I did not know this.  I do now.  cough cough cough

I cut up all my new shirts - cut off the sleeves and cropped the torso and tossed them in the wash.  They all washed beautifully.  I'm really very impressed with my faux dickies.  (Wearing long sleeve turtlenecks under my fleece sweaters is one layer too many but my fleece sweaters make my neck cold.  Dressing is an adventure.)

I have nothing interesting for dinner but I'm too lazy to go out.  hmmmmm
