I woke up 5 minutes before the alarm.  It was strange to be back at my Pool of Choice. On the Monday/Wednesday/Friday early morning swims, the lifeguards are Careen and Shannon.  I realized as soon as I saw them that I had missed their smiling faces as much as the pool.

It had actually been more than a week since I'd been in a pool.

Jumping in and the first two laps were very strange. I'd forgotten how to do it!  Plus the pool was COLD.  Turns out it was bracing and soon the temp was perfect way better than too warm.  But, sure enough, I'd forgotten how to swim and how to breathe!  It was a little freaky.  By the second turn, my muscles remembered and it was fine and wonderful.

I hit the tired wall at about the 3/4ths of a mile but I kept going - thank you, This American Life, the story I was listening to was pretty interesting.  I finished my mile and did a victory lap and called it good.  And it really was.  It's so great to be able to stretch and work muscles without panting or feeling crappy.  I'd be pitiful without swimming.

I've now had my coffee and fiddled around on the internets and think now would be a good time to get up and get dressed and get started on the laundry.

(For early morning swims, I put on my suit and throw my robe - basically a floor length hoodie - and go and just wear the robe home - hence the need for getting dressed.)

Tivo

The damn thing rebooted itself again this morning so I called TiVo.  I rarely - as in I cannot remember another time - buy extended warranties but I did for this TiVo when I bought it 2 years ago. I don't even remember the thought process behind the decision but I am sure glad I did.

I called today and told them I wanted a replacement.  No problem.  I could either send the broken one back and then get a new one OR pay a deposit (equal to the price of a new one), get the new one, send the broken one back and then get a full refund.  I chose door #2. They pay shipping.  I think I paid $30 for the warranty - 3 year.  Well worth it.

I will lose some movies that I saved but, if I haven't watched them by now, maybe they aren't worth saving.  And, I also sacrifice the scheme I had to replace this one with a new Roamio but, I can still do that if/when the new one dies.

Still, I think I came out pretty good on this thing all things considered.

My bathroom is all organized and so today I'm thinking of the other key areas that need the same thing - cleaning out, culling and organizing.

2 cupboards on the terrace
3 closets in the bedroom

The outside needs it most because it houses stuff I cannot find and so buy more of.  And it's the trickiest because its window of opportunity is not open ended.  Do it too soon and it's too cold.  Wait too long and it's too hot.

Plus, the last time I did it alone, it took me a couple of weeks to recover.  There is an amazing amount of dust out there and by the time I finished handling all the dusty things, I was a wheezing fool.  I tried a mini clean since then and wore a paint mask and it was better but I decided not to fuck with it.  This is the perfect opportunity to try taskrabbit.com.

I created and posted a task today.  I'm hoping to find someone with some crack organizational skills to help.  But if that fails, I'll be happy with someone who can deal with the dust and then haul away what I don't want. If I get a really good task rabbit-er, then I might hire him/her to help with the bedroom closets.

If taskrabbit.com doesn't come through, I wonder if amyworks.com would. hmmmm

One way or the other. It will get done.  I have way more shit than I need and this business of re-buying stuff has got to stop.
