Mar. 13th, 2014
Every other morning, I either sleep in or go swimming. It's kind of a nice rhythm that I really missed while the pool was closed. Today is a sleep in day. The pool doesn't open til 11. The alarm/NPR goes off at 6 but I don't turn the light on until about 7. Then I get up and get coffee and bring it back to bed. Zoey joins me for coffee and internet-ing. This is exactly what we look like right now.
In my reading this morning, I learned that Amazon has, indeed, raised the price of it's Prime membership. Not a surprise and not unreasonable but I also read a clever 'buy ahead' deal. I bought myself a gift of Prime to start the day my membership expires next October. Saved $20. And, come next October, I'll get a nice gift from me. How kind of me.
Today's project is the continuing copy of programs from the broken TiVo to the bedroom one. It's a slow process but I'm making good progress. The new TiVo will be here tomorrow but I don't have to hook it up right away so I'll get everything saved that I want.
I never did get out yesterday. The sun was out all day and I just couldn't face it. Sun in my eyes gets harder and harder to take the older I get and if I don't have to face it, I don't. I got several pairs of good sunglasses on sale over the winter - one in the car, one by the front door, so that will help, I hope. Today I have to go out at mid-day anyway so I'll just do my errands while I'm out.
But, now, I think I'll get up, get dressed and have a little breakfast.

two more things
Mar. 13th, 2014 09:08 amHappy Birthday, Internet. I remember when you are just a babe. You've grown into quite the amazing thing.
Back in the olden days, there was no charge for domain names. You just filled in a form with whatever you wanted and if it wasn't taken, you got it. The first couple of years of susandennis.com were free. Then they started charging. The process changed hands a dozen times. At one point it was $70+ for one year. The wild wild west.
Also back in the olden days, I was married for a minute. My husband was a lot older than I was. (Actually, since the internets have yet to produce an obit, I suspect he is still... and his birthday is next week. He'll be 86. Yikes.) He had a lot of strange habits and ways that I generally regarded as ridiculous. Beginning to see now why the marriage didn't work?
One of them was the way he made scrambled eggs. My way, the correct way, was to crack the eggs in a bowl, add whatever I wanted, if anything, and then pour into the warmed frying pan. He heated the frying pan and then cracked the eggs into it and scrambled them there while they cooked. Dumb. And they never looked right. This morning, I decided on scrambled eggs. My kitchen is so clean. The idea of dirtying up a whole extra bowl seemed silly. So I cracked the eggs into the warmed pan and scrambled them there. They weren't as good. (Wonder if he is laughing a maniacal nearly 86 year old laugh right now?)

But, the middle is fine
Mar. 13th, 2014 01:46 pmMy tooth pulling stitches are still there but the hole is clearly getting better. This morning I got up and discovered that the opposite end was whining... my heel. I had Plantar Fashionista once but I actually forgot what it felt like. Today I looked up heel pain with no injury and bam... there it was. Crap. I also don't remember how I managed to get rid of it. Stretching, I guess.
The good news is that it has zero affect on my swimming so I'm giving it a giant raspberry.
And swimming today was good. My least favorite lifeguard quit.
