Today is the birthday of
ljtourist! He's asked me to join him for brunch at a place known for the most amazing brunch buffet in the world. A couple of years ago we went to another place that had a great buffet. I've never been to today's place so it will be interesting to compare. Buffets are always so frustrating because I can never eat enough ... but, I had a small dinner last night and I'm pretty hungry. Today's game plan is small tastes of everything. We shall see. He's also driving in his fancy car so I can even have a bloody mary if I want.
Happily, my arms hold the most ugly and vibrant of my current blood bruises (senile purpura). My hands are pretty clear. So I can wear my light weight long sleeved sweater to brunch and not look like a leper.
Yesterday I dropped into the fabric store near my house and a new project was born. I'm thinking of making a slip cover for my big chair in the living room. Ordinarily that would be a massive undertaking but this chair's design is such that once I get the dimensions noodled, it will be easy peasy and I can make several and change the chair's 'clothing' easily for a new look. The store has old people discounts on Tuesdays and Thursdays so I'll go back next week. I think I can give my chair a new outfit for about $10.
This week, Chef Anita will be here on Tuesday and the housecleaner on Wednesday. The electrician says he's coming to swap out my ceiling fixtures but he's said that many times and has yet to show up so I'm not clearing the calendar. My designer who hires this guy every time, is moving to London so she won't be doing any more work for me so I won't have to be fucked around by this dude any more. He's really hot looking but a hot mess to work with and impossible to count on.
It's going to be hot today, inside. Outside is supposed to be sunny and warm but not hot. The rest of the week is going to be cooler so if I can keep the house cool today, I'll be good til at least next weekend, I think. My new air conditioner is doing a great job. I'm not looking forward to seeing the bill but I love the cool.

At least I got through brunch...
Jun. 8th, 2014 02:56 pmI got one huge blood bruise (the non-hurty kind) on the back of my hand doing fucking laundry!!! How is that even possible? My clothes have zero sharp edges. Then I got another on my arm when I went to put the clean clothes away. Gross and disgusting. But at least I didn't look all leper-y for brunch.
Which was fabulous. Brunch, that is. We had the best table in the house looking out across the expanse of Elliot Bay from West Seattle. The food was good and plentiful and I did not stuff my self to uncomfortable. It was great. Frank has this amazingly fancy to the max car. It's an Audi white powerful sports car and it's just luxury. Oh and convertible. He put the top down and we cruised the West Seattle beach road slowly. I love being the passenger in a car but being a passenger in that car is like being anointed. Frank is always so interesting to spend time with. He is passionate about things that are and always will be very foreign to me so it's always fascinating to hear his take on nearly everything. Plus he's fun and nice. And likes to eat - non-vegan, gluten-full, omnivoric meals.
The Mariners' game was on this morning while we were brunching. I totally forgot to check the score - that, alone, is a great indication of how much fun I had! But, I had recorded the game so I got to enjoy the whole thing and it turned out to be a great game. Amazingly, as the announcer expressed in shear amazement and delight at the end "And the Mariners are now 4 games over 500 and that hasn't happened in in in I don't even know when!!!!" heheheh (The game was 0-0 until the top of the 9th with 2 outs when the Mariners scored 5 runs. Pretty cool.)
Now the laundry is done and put away. And all is quiet.
And, just as I typed that sentence, Neighbor Ann came in to say she had just been at the hospital and Ron followed her with his eyes and blinked at her request. She's pretty excited about that.
Now I think I'll watch more of my latest find - The Bridge. And knit some bear.
