Morning victory
Jun. 19th, 2014 08:26 amMonths ago, before my Nexus 7 warranty ran out, I called customer service about the screen response issues I'd been having. The screen was getting increasingly uninterested in responding to my finger. The woman on the phone walked me through a pretty complicated series of stuff and when we were done, the tablet worked perfectly.
Last week I started playing a game on the tablet that I hadn't played in a long time. Pretty soon.. yep, touch screen issues again! So I looked up how to clear the cache and found:
http://forums.androidcentral.com/google-nexus-7-tablet-2012/337072-guide-nexus-7-2012-2013-cache-partition-wipe.html
It was a little fiddly to do on my own but I finally got it and BAM!! Problem fixed! Now I know to stay away from that old game.

I told my designer to just forget about the living room ceiling lights. She's moving to London and if, one day, I couldn't stand it, I'd get them changed out on my own. She said ok. Then yesterday she wrote that she just couldn't leave it that way. She found an electrician she can depend on and they are coming with the new lights at 2:30 today. I'll be glad to get it done. And it will be nice to see her one last time. My condo is a beautiful place because of the work she did. We had our ups and downs and she drove me nuts half the time, but I could never have created this place without here and I love what we have done. Even the decisions we made now 9 years ago (paint color, etc) I would not change at all.

My brother thinks my new router is dying. I think he's wrong BUT for +$10, it may be worth yet another swap. I can sell my current router to Amazon for $65 and get the router he recommends (a Buffalo DD-WRT router) for $55. His tech loves and has extensive experience with the DD-WRT router and can monitor my router issues and figure out why I cannot keep a router working successfully for more than six weeks!
I'm giving this plan serious consideration.
My brother's business - pc repair and IT for small businesses - is still hopping. If you called today for an appointment for someone to come out and fix something, it would be next Tuesday before they could get someone there. He hired a replacement for the tech he lost and now is interviewing another one to add to the team. His town has one of the biggest retirement settlements in the country - Sun City and it's growing. Old people with computers is just a gold mine for him.
I'm so glad for him. He's also getting to the point that he's got some financial cushion. This year he bought himself a bright read shiny riding mower. He spent many years losing sleep over his business. I'm so glad he's worked his way into such a good space.

I got a note from another neighbor that Ann's husband died yesterday at 5:15 pm. There will be no funeral or memorial service per his wishes. So that is that.

I got an email from Ann (sent to a list). It was very nicely done. She said that she and Charlie and Amy (her son and daughter-in-law) were in to see Ron about 4 yesterday and said their goodbyes and by the time she got home there was a message from the hospital that he had died. Her email sounds as if she is at peace. I hope so. She also reiterated that in keeping with his wishes, there will be no service of any kind.

One thing I meant to do before it got hot was make a batch of breakfast egg and sausage muffins. I haven't had any in a long time. They require heating up the oven and I wish I had remembered. Now it's warm but WTF, I got the ingredients at the store and may do it anyway. I think I'll crumble cook the sausage today and do the rest tomorrow.
---
The replacement coffee maker arrived. I need to set it up, take the old one to the dumpster, and put away the other groceries. By the time I get that done, it will be time for the lighting people. And when they are done, it will be time for the game. One thing after another. It's a damn good thing I don't have a day job. I don't know how I'd squeeze it in.
---
Oh and I was forced into a lane at the pool that was faster than my usual so I was faster than my usual. A good 7 minutes under my normal mile time.
---
And mine and my doctor's theory about cutting back on the aspirin and vitamin D might help curtail and heal the blood bruises on my hands and arms? Bunk. I got two one hand while waking around the grocery store and a giant one on my arm from something else I don't remember. Blech.

I have new lights in the living room. They are track lights. The whole world is trashing theirs like last decade's rubbish and I'm getting new ones. Oh well. These are very nice looking and the LED bulbs are screw in so that if I ever have to replace one, I might be able to do it. But the outside of the box says that it will be in 28 years. From their lips to god's ears!
The Mariners lost for the second night in a row to a team that is way worse than their own sorry asses. Sigh.
I'm watching the finally of Fargo. If the cops drop by for a dead body tonight, I will truly be freaked.
LJ seems to be making good changes but I really wish they'd give us the opportunity to kill all the widgets and get more width to the entries column. At least we've got choices. The old way, the new way and the new new way.
