Stuff and stuff
Sep. 10th, 2014 10:21 amFour years ago, I stupidly bought an annuity because I wasn't thinking and didn't ask the right questions and was stupid. Finally the damn thing matured and I could get my money out. First I had to check and make sure I wasn't being even more stupid tax wise and once I got all that settled, I got the withdral form and filled it out and then called this morning to make sure I was doing it right, see about faxing and deposit info, etc.
I got a very nice and efficient woman who gave me the fax number, told me that my only option was a paper check via snail mail but even though the form said so, I did not have to have my signature notorized or witnessed assuming it matched the one they have on file.
So I signed and scanned - why does my desktop machine no longer want to scan? Happily my printer has a 'scan' button so I got it done. Combined the two pages, saved as a PDF. Found a very easy free fax service (http://gotfreefax.com), sent it off and got the confirmation. So... in about a week, I should have the check which, hopefully, I can just deposit via my phone and be rid of this thing forever. It has come to remind me daily that I'm stupid. It will be so nice to get back to genius.
My Twitter feed is over the whole Apple annoucement and is now spitting out news of yesterday and today. I always keep Tweetdeck in a column next to my regular browser window so I can be distracted 24/7. Squirrel!!
My house cleaner and her daughter are here making stuff spic and span. It's wonderful.
My swim this morning was good. The pool was packed but everything moved along so it was no big deal. I did find out that one of the morning lifeguards is doing private lessons on Tuesday nights. I can make as many arguments for taking a lesson from her as against. I told her that I really couldn't do nights. But, when the y get the schedule done (she said next week) and I can't find someone perfect in the mornings, she will be a good option even at night.
It's a lovely, cloudy, coolish day and I'm very grateful. There's nothing else on my plate today but I may go take care of the toilet paper/cat food issue.. or not..

So I went to Costco. I got toilet paper. Everyone can relax now. And I stopped on the way home and got cat food. Whew!
But, back to Costo. First of all I have figured out my Costco zen.
1. Go on a cool, cloudy day.
2. Park at the far end of the first lot or at the beginning of the second one next to the cart return thing.
3. Enjoy the walk in.
Makes the whole experience better. For me. Really. And coming out is nearly as good because no one is stalking you for your parking space.
The first thing I do, when I get to Costco - after eyeballing the front specials - is go to the bakery. I love their cupcakes. Love em. BUT only the white ones with vanilla butter cream frosting. They have chocolate with chocolate icing, carrot cake ones and then a half choc/half van. And they rotate them so my vanilla/vanilla only comes around very occassionally. Today was still the carrot cake ones which I think they've now had for months... BUT... BUT... BUT... there were special 12th Man vanilla/vanilla ones!!!!! I have never that glad to live in Seahawks land until today. I bought 2 dozen. I looked like a rabid (aka regular) Seahawks fan.
They are gigantic. I eat 1/2 at a time. I freeze them and then pull off the papers, cut them in half and put them back in the freezer and eat 1/2 - usually after dinner. So these 2 dozen will last me a while. My freezer space is now gone. I may have to give up ice. I did use it as an excuse to toss out the rest of the oh-so-cheap-and-not-good-at-all ice cream!
But, that wasn't the ONLY score... I found these and decided to give them a try. They are plain old tea biscits in the perfectly sized little packets and they are delicous!

Now for the Can You Believe I Am This Dumb Section:
Until this morning, I honestly and truly thought a seahawk was a preditor bird that was found near and on the ocean. I did. I really did. My housecleaner is from Bosnia and speaks very broken accidented English. Her daughter is fully bilingual and I don't now about her Bosnian but her English is flawless. Anyway, we were chatting about the concert/ballgame last weekend and she and her daughter swapped some sentences in Bosnian but they included the world Seahawk. I asked her if the Bosnians didn't have a word for seahawk. And so the journey began. Her daughted said that she was pretty sure a Seahawk was a made up word. WHAT???? NOOOOOOO So I Googled the shit out of it and lo and behold....
Oh well, I am going to enjoy their cupcakes!

keeping track but really just bitching
Sep. 10th, 2014 04:53 pmI have have been short of breath all day - well all day after I got out of the pool. And my cough sounds honky. But, it's not wheezy so probably just life with COPD. And I'm so sleepy. I hate taking naps. Really I do. I want to be sleepy exactly 1 time a day and that's minutes before I actually go to sleep. At night. No nap today. I'm powering through.
And while I'm griping about bodily things, something is up with my fingernails. I like to keep them shortish. When you spend an hour in chlorinated water a day, plus washing dishes and regular day to day wet hand things, polish is not happening. It's not worth the effort it takes to get it on. So with no polish, longer nails just look silly. And... yet... lately... mine grow like they are being paid big bucks to get long. Cutting them is a PIA because I can never cut them cleanly so then I have to file them and that creates snags. It seems like I cut them down to the pads of my fingers just the other day and now they are all back to too long again.
Between clipping Zoey's nails and clipping mine, nail clipping is beginning to feel like a job abound here.

So this was just on Twitter:

It's in a neighborhood on just on the other side of downtown from here. Same exact kind of tree as The Tree That I Hate. Looks a little younger than mine but it's falling over gives me so much hope. I am sorry for the little Smart Car. Glad his parents have good insurance.
