Erasing....
Mar. 16th, 2015 09:50 amMy swim this morning was glorious. There was a new lifeguard taking over Monday and Wednesday mornings and he seems nice and fun.
When I got home, my phone had a stroke. It kept rebooting and rebooting and rebooting. After trying a couple of hard core tricks like cleaning out the system cache, I finally hit factory reset. And now it says erasing... it's been erasing... for about 30 minutes now.
Fortunately, I have a very excellent backup phone. But, I'd really like to have my first one back.
It's kind of a digital karmic balance to the new computer coming today. I remember well, the new computers of old. I'd set aside a day to get it set up. Even a laptop. It took hours to remove all the OEM bloatware and then apply all the updates and then even more hours to download and install all my stuff.
The new computer coming today is a chromebook that will take less than 5 minutes to set up completely. And 3 of those minutes will be finding a place to store the box it comes in!
So today looks like it will be phone fiddling interspersed with hitting refresh on the FedEx tracking page.
But, I won't forget my 20 minutes of walking. Today will likely be a trip to the Japanese grocery to get some more of those delicious almond crisp cookies. It also looks like it will be a dry walk and, hopefully, sun-free. I heard on the radio this morning that yesterday was the wettest day here in Seattle in 6 years.
Still erasing...

i hate to be wrong
Mar. 16th, 2015 02:38 pmStarting about the day I waxed poetic about how low maintenance Zoey is, she's been a mess. She used to sleep all day. Now she spends her days trying to get between me and the computer and/or me and the knitting and/or just standing there loudly meowing. I'm wondering if she doesn't need a cat to play with. I really hope not.
One day last week, I walked over to the Japanese market and back and it was horrible. I had to stop and rest a couple of times each way and I felt like crap when I got home. Today I did about the same walk and it was much easier. I stopped once very briefly on the way home and got back here just fine and feeling good. I still hate the 20 minute walks but if they enable me to walk more and farther when I want to, I'll at least feel better about them.
I am beginning to wonder if I am becoming lactose intolerant. I had a giant glass of milk this morning (so big because I was finishing off the half gallon). About 3 hours later, after my walk, fortunately, I got hit by painful cramps and then a nice (not) bout of painful runs. I'm recovering now. I've had this happen every once in a while lately and I wonder. I drink milk only really once in a while. I think I'm going to lay off the milk for a while and see what happens. I'd miss milk but be grateful if giving it up fixes the issue.
My phone is all put back together and working. My new computer arrived and it's luscious.
And finally, today for the first time, at 2:30, Zoey has left my side an crawled into her bed. Whew. I love her but trying to type and read around her kitty butt is a problem. If I do get another cat it's going to be a transparent one.
