I'm so loving this cool. I swapped out my summer blanket for a light weight comforter. I rushed that a little but my acknowledgement that soon I will really need the warmth beats the practicality. One of the many things I love best about living alone is sleeping alone. So I can do what I want. (Another big perk of living alone.)
Yesterday, in addition to the bumpy Windows 10 installation ride, the start of my sweater's sleeves was also bumpy. I got them started and then changed my mind about how to do it so ripped them out and started again. Then made an error which took forever to fix and finally got going. I don't think they will take as long as I thought to complete which is a plus.
The bear factory is really taking a hit with the sweater and the sewing. But I've decided I'm ok with that. I've been making 10-20 bears a month since the summer of 2005. Especially after I found Jeanne who sends them out to babies of indigent moms - about 10 years ago now - I've always been afraid that one day I'll tire of making toys altogether and her babies would be left high and dry. That has not happened yet but I want to take care that it never does. So I'm not stressed about low inventory and might well have that for a month or so. Especially while I get this sweater finished.
So I finally got the Misfit Speedo Shine. I'm glad to have a Shine again. But I am more than a little pissed. Contrary to ANY information either Misfit OR Speedo put out about this new thing, the new function - counting laps and monitoring any swimming stroke - is for iOS only! All of their emails, websites, tweets,e tc. say android and ios. Only the android is a lie. I finally got a response on twitter that android will be coming soon. WTF????? I worked in software long enough to fully understand that 'soon' means 'we'll get to it when we get to it, don't hold your breath.' I like the Shine and I like the function and the lap counting, if I ever get it, will be nice, but the advertising stallion and selling pig deal is really beyond lame.
Today will be my swim and then a hustle back from West Seattle to get the bears to Jeanne by 10:15. But that's it for the day's planned activities.

I'm listening to a new novel. It's a first novel. A Window Opens by Elisabeth Egan. It's a semi epistolary and has the flavor of Where'd You Go Bernadette. I'm only half way done but the theme is set. Wife of lawyer and mother of two takes a job at giant online retailer (Amazon-ish) and finds the inside corporate life much like a psychedelic mushroom trip.
However, all of the things she mocks and finds strange and abhorrent are all very second nature to me. I spent years embedded in the culture of large corporations. I totally understand and appreciate and respect all the things she mocks.
So far it's holding my interest without being too insulting but I'm wary.

A collection of stuff
Sep. 4th, 2015 11:14 amThe cough that I've had now for nearly a week is also now nearly gone!! Swimming was way easier today with no having to stop for prolonged coughing jags. Whew. It's weird how I get these little mini illnesses. I'm not complaining. Having a one day sore throat beats the shit out of a full blown cold or flu. Having a cough for a week is way better than pneumonia for a month. I am grateful.
About 30 minutes into my swim, I got tired of my book about how the brain works so I switched to music and my brain rewarded me. I came up with a brilliant way to utilize the closet space in the sewing room (by actually hanging my fabric using the hangars that are now available from the Great Closet Cleanup). AND how to create perfect phone pouch for my next purse (vinylize the outside of a pouch made of fleece)! Thanks, brain!
The bear drop off went better than usual and she was most understanding about the lower production numbers.
I got an email from a woman who's new at my haircutting place (Rudy's Barbershop). She needs a model for a "grey coverage" on September 10 at 11. Could I possible do it? Why the hell not! Sure. I've never in my life had my hair professionally colored. This could be fun. Probably the pool will fuck it up and I'll have green hair for months but... what the heck. She was so grateful. I, who hate getting my hair cut with a passion, am looking forward to it. Go figure.
When I got home and ooops. Nail appointment that same day at 10:30. A quick call moved nails to the day before.
Calendar excitement!!!!
I have laundry going - load 1 in the dryer, load 2 in the washer.
Next up, I'm going to try out iTunes and my Shuffle with Windows 10.

So between the cooler temperatures and the clouds, I can get up and go take a walk any damn time I want to and it is hilariously liberating!! I just went down to get the mail and walked around the block first and discovered that a new gallery is opening in a space that has been empty forever. Plus I scored a Seattle Mariners barbecue apron on the free shelf. No, I'm not going to barbecue BUT I do think a couple of seams and a rope will turn it into a fine backpack with the Seattle Mariner logo smack in the middle. Or something else excellent.
I almost needed more clothing out there. There's a bit of a breeze which makes it even cooler and we're almost to sock weather. Yeah! and yeah! and yeah!
I was able to walk at a good clip without stopping once or even coming close to having to stop to catch my breath. I do need start taking longer walks. I don't hate the shorter ones like I used to. Maybe I can get over hating the longer ones, too.
I think I need a schedule/plan like m/w/f I do a specific trail - Uwijamaya around to Jackson and over to Yesler and down to 1st to home. That would be 30 mins. So do it or its equivalent 3 times a week. Maybe. I know now that the benefit would be excellent but I still can't see forcing myself to do it. I need to think of a plan. Maybe that's what tomorrow's swim subject will be.
At least I have no problem at all getting to the pool and swimming for an hour every day.
