one more hot night to go
Sep. 12th, 2015 07:24 amI woke up several times last night, not because I had to pee but just because it was so hot. About 4 am I considered going in and sleeping on the new couch in front of the air conditioner. I went back to sleep before I actually did it. As I type this now, it is still uncomfortably hot in here. And this is all with the air conditioner running. I cannot imagine how horrible these days are for people without. And as much as I love my air conditioner, I'm really tired of it's droning noise. I will be sooooo delighted to be cold.
Thus endith the whining of this entry.
I need to find a new book to listen to while swimming. My latest one didn't work out. It was an author reading his own book which is kind of a Goldilocks deal. When it works, it's great. When it doesn't - ugh. This was a doesn't. (Happily, Audible let me return it for a refund.)
For swimming, I like non fiction, short takes. The iPod Shuffle works well with Audible. It bookmarks when I stop automatically. It's not so helpful with podcasts and library downloads. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. And there is no way to handily fast forward or replay without stopping my swim. So I need something that just flows interestingly but if I miss a sentence or two, enjoyment of the book is jeopardized.
I need to do some book shopping today. But I have lots of good music and some Ted Talks to listen to today Ted Talks work well until I hit one that is heavily dependent on slides... But, it's easy to just skip to the next and they don't have long advertisements like lots of podcasts. Oh and they are mostly evergreen (last year's have lost no relevancy).
Leaving now for the pool. I may or may not stop for breakfast after. Probably not unless I can think of a place with air conditioning.
No other big plans for today. Just waiting for the cool.
