Itchy itchy itchy
Oct. 9th, 2015 07:23 amMy back itches. Nearly all the time. It's making me nuts. I slathered it with lotion, twice, last night (I have this spongy thing on a stick that lets me get lotion back there) and still, itchy itchy itchy... all over it. I thought being out of the chlorine would help winter skin but I guess not. ARUGH. As I typed that, I remembered, I had some anti itch spray and dug it out. It's a topical antihistamine. And, for right now, it seems to have worked a little! hmm...
Today I'm thinking crock pot chili. After swim, my plan is to stop at the grocery and get the ingredients.
That is really my only plans for the day. I have lots that I can do but nothing that must be done.
I'm listening to the latest JoJo Moyes novel. And it's great. While I swim, I'm listening to a book of short stories by Jesse Eisenberg. It's ok.
On TV, I abandoned Quantico and Rosewood and turned the corner the other way for the sit com Life in Pieces. I think it's going to work. I do love that Zoe Lister-Jones may actually have a show that lasts a whole season. She's been so great in so many loser shows.
I've gotten massively distracted writing this entry and it's been a good half hour since I wrote the first sentence. That spray anti itch stuff has actually worked!! Yeah!!!

A sudden attack of GET AWAY FROM ME!
Oct. 9th, 2015 11:04 amI had a good swim. Nothing like cold water waving across my itchy back. It felt so wonderful. Then I headed over to the big Safeway where I hit a personality snag.
It started off as irritation. They were out of what I wanted and when I asked somebody it was clear he neither knew nor cared. Then they had one cashier open and that one cashier looked over the 3 people in front of me and told me to go to #3.
There was no cashier at #3 and the light wasn't even on. When I finally did find someone to take my money the woman in front of me would NOT stop talking to me and then the cashier nearly left 3 of my items out of my bag (fortunately I was paying attention). And then the talking woman got me again in the parking lot.
I can actually be pretty darned socially competent. Given the right party, I can be the life of it. But, I live alone on my own in lovely solitude because sometimes, I cannot stand to interact with people. Especially people not of my choosing. I have a few (actually, really very few friends) and I am fine with them. But people I don't know, and don't need to know or want to know can totally bring out the very worst in me. Two condescending cashiers, a non helpful clerk and a very annoying chatty lady all in a row really turned me into a person I would never want to meet anywhere.
And now Zoey is messing with me. Oh and they fired the Mariners manager who was the first one in a decade that I really liked! Man, I need a horse sized chill pill.

Chili for the masses
Oct. 9th, 2015 11:26 amI have a small crock pot that is the perfect size for me. Except today. I gathered the chili ingredients and before I knew it, the pot was too full to stir and I hadn't added the green chillies yet.
So... now I had a HUGE pot of chili on the stove simmering. It looks fabulous. Perfect. But OMG. It's enough chili to last me the winter. The one that just started.
Wanna come over? And bring 50 of your closest friends? I've got chili.
I also have chopped onions and grated cheese and sour cream for toppings and Fritos for a side. I'm so set.

Success and success
Oct. 9th, 2015 03:32 pmThe chili is amazing if I do say so myself. Turns out it wasn't quite as much as I thought. Though still way more than I planned. There are 3 servings in the freezer. One in the fridge and one waiting on the stove for dinner time.
I tried a different lotion on my back this afternoon and it is not nearly as itchy. I wonder if part of last night's itch was the Cerave lotion I used. Maybe my back just likes the cheap stuff better.
I really really don't care about the post baseball season. But if Toronto ends up playing the Cubs, I may be forced to watch anyway. That would just be too interesting.
Now I'm going to watch last night's Project Runway. I have really enjoyed this season more than most because the contestants have been way kinder towards each other than usual. There was one semi ugly event but it's far better than the three bitchfests per episode of previous seasons. I expect this nice will not last so each episode I gird my loins (hahahah love that phase) for the ugly cloud.
