I got to the pool about 10 minutes before it opened. The good front desk lady was there so the doors were open. I had the pool entirely to myself for the first 40 minutes. Over the next 15 minutes 2 other people started swimming and then in the last 5 minutes, 7 swimmers showed up! I got out of there while the gettin' was good. Nothing was stolen today. Whew.

I had read that one of my favorite places to eat - Luna Park Cafe - was having a craft sale. The staff and family and friends were going to set up outside the cafe this morning. I thought I'd drive by and if the line for breakfast wasn't too long and I could find parking, I'd stop and eat. I found a crazy excellent parking spot. The line was not long at all.  As soon as I gave the guy my name for the wait list, about 10 people showed up behind me.

Luna Park is as close to a diner as we get around here. It even has working juke boxes at the tables. They've been there forever and have not changed the menu items since Regan was in office and, most importantly to me, have continued to be kale free. I had a great breakfast. The craft show turned out to be not so interesting and didn't start until 11 and I was done at 10:30 so I decided to just move on.

I went up the my favorite market. It's the Red Apple on Beacon Hill. They had pork chops (and they cut a great pork chop) and nice beef roast cuts on sale! They are the only ones that sell my favorite milk in quart bottles and they had everything else on my list. And I remembered to get button batteries. And they now do Android Pay. Win win win win.

Now I'm home with nothing more on my Need To Do Today list. There's TV and sewing and reading and all manner of interesting things availalbe to amuse moi.  Nice.

About 1:30 this afternoon there was an electrical vault explosion just outside my gym. I mean I just saw a video of it and it's exactly right where I stand every Saturday and Sunday mornings waiting for them to open at 8. Freaky. On the West Seattle blog, somebody commented that they were actually working out when it happened and the gym was evacuated. I cannot imagine how disconcerting it would be to be swimming laps and have someone come fish you out for a building evacuation... Wonder if they let the swimmers get into dry clothes first.

But, I was here, at the sewing machine, making dolls. It did occur to me while I was sewing that my sewing machine - currently in the sewing machine ICU - must be covered by some kind of warranty. Oddly enough at both the manufacturer site (Pfaff) and the store's site there is zero mention of any warranty. Weird. I will be asking...

Now it's time for a movie and some bear - ing.

A couple of weeks ago, I installed gmvault to download a database of all my gmail. It's basically a command line program and my command line skills are as rusty as an old boat. I was enormously proud of myself for being able to set it up, schedule it and tailor it to flag me down if/when there is a problem.

And, today, there was a problem. My lovely She-Thief prompted me to change my Google password which I had not done in way too long. I set up two factor authentication a long time ago so I got lazy about actually changing the password. So, when I changed it this time, there were lots of little surprises like my gmvault program not capturing any gmail this week due to an authentication issue...

I guessed what the issue was immediately but it took a fair amount of noodling to fix it. I not only fixed it, I tailored the README file with notes on what to do when it happens again. Proud.

[livejournal.com profile] pink_halen is going on another trip! If you've never traveled with he and Ron before, do yourself a favor and add him to your friends list. They go such interesting places and capture the stuff that normal travelers do not and skip the stuff you've seen in everyone else's travel pix.

But, that's not all... Now, Ron is going to chronicle the same trip from the other side of the 10th (impressive) deck cabin.

I love going around the world without ever having to move my toothbrush from the bathroom sink.

The Seattle Sounders won the Major League Soccer championship tonight in Toronto about an hour ago. Now a ginormous and loud faction of their fan base has descended on their stadium across the street. They are marching and chanting and there is a long line of cars in the street below my terrace just honking their little hearts out. It's a rather joyful Saturday night around here.

I hope they all go home before they turn into Seahawkians.
