One minor political comment... That blue outfit with the blue shoes and blue gloves that Melania Trump is wearing is incredibly stunning and shockingly perfectly appropriate. Wow. I'm half watching my Twitter feed and it keeps popping up and out and every time I'm like wow.

This morning, in the middle of my swim, my iPod Shuffle died a weird death. When the battery is low, it tells me really often. Today it was just this squeaking noise and then nothing. I came home and plugged it into the Windows machine and the Windows machine didn't even flinch. It didn't even recognize that anything USB had been plugged in. UGh. But, then I plugged it into my chromebook and it started charging. I let it go for a bit and just checked it and it's playing fine so whew. It's charging more now.

The cheap phone I orders arrives on Monday. I'm hoping to somehow magically transform it into a streaming music player that I can swim with. I think this is probably workable only in my brain. But, we shall see.

Also my tracker stopped working like it was supposed to a couple of days ago. It still tracks but distance but wouldn't show me laps. Finally I got into it just now and somehow managed to fix it. So yeah.

No big plans for today. I don't have a walk to a specific place planned so it will be around the block - once this morning and again this afternoon. At least it is still not that cold cold cold we had. The sun is out which, in my case, is not a good thing but ... sunglasses for the win.

I saw something on a blog the other day that gave me an idea that I started on today. I am not a quilter but I love patchwork - patchwork anything. Patchwork bedding, patchwork clothes, patchwork furniture... There's just something about it that gets me in my sweet spot. Plus, I go through tons of small very patchworkable scraps of fabric that I have just been throwing away and I hate that.

Patchwork quilting is sewing a bunch of scraps together and then making a sandwich out of a big piece of fabric for the back and batting for the middle and then sewing them all together.

There's also a thing called Quilt As You Go (QAYG) where you sew a bunch of scraps into a square - like 12x12 inches or whatever and then make a quilt sandwich out of the square and then sew all the squares together.

BUT this blog yesterday gave me an idea for, finally, a scrap quilting that most suits me. And I dreamed up a quilted top to make and started making it today. First the back - which, in this case, will be the inside lining.

If I'm clever enough, I may even be able to make this top reversable. We'll see about that. But this was the fabric I happen to have plenty of on hand. I cut out the front and back of the top and basted it onto the batting.

And then I got out my scraps and started building up the outside.

I love it so far. And it's going way faster than I thought it would. I haven't yet gotten to the point where I'm sure it will work out as fine as what is in my head but I'm getting there.

Plus there were dolls to make and I got so sleepy this afternoon that I had to take a nap. I hate naps but I think my getting up so early to swim is catching up with me. No biggie. Totally worth it. And the next two days are late swims since the pool doesn't open til 8.

And I finished this guy last night and forgot to add his photo.
