I woke up this morning thinking of all the things I need to do before 4. Turn off the Windows laptop and the Chromebook I use for webcam viewing and gather all the flashlights in one spot and... it's ridiculous. If the lights go out at 4 as planned (and they probably won't go out until 4:30 or 5), I'll be in bed asleep at 10 so we're only talking 6 hours. AND plenty of people get caught in electrical outages of that length with no notice at all ... and live to tell the tale.

I did pull some fried chicken out of the freezer to have with a salad for dinner.

My pool theory lives. It seems that when the pool is packed on Saturday, there are rarely any swimmers on Sunday. True today. There were a couple of people there for a little bit but no crowd. Even the locker room was sparsely populated.

I started a new book for pool swim - Smoke Gets in Your Eyes by Caitlin Doughty - it's about her years working in a crematory. So far, so good. The author is also the reader which generally does not work too well but she's doing a very excellent job.

I finished my novel last night - Hopefuls by Jennifer Chase - very excellent - also another very excellent reader. In fact, I went to Audible this morning to see if I could find another book ready by the same woman and while she's done a ton, none looked interesting. I have a new book to start tonight - the first in a series that already has 6 books - about an assassin. I hope it's great.

Time now to clean up the breakfast dishes and get to the sewing room. The baseball game is on TV today! First for 2017. I'm excited.

I only made one doll today because my sewing time was used to finish the new bag. I'm quite delighted with it. It's very small - about 10x7-ish. I stuck to the pattern exactly except for the strap. I usually wander off and make massive changes. I do think next time I make this one, I will make it maybe an inch wider. Otherwise, it's pretty perfect for me.

I gave up on carrying big purses a while back. They hurt my shoulder and, honestly, I don't need to be hauling around all that shit. Downsizing makes me keep the contents very current and very minimum. Works great for me.

So fun to see baseball again. And, watching my TiVo on my tablet back in the sewing room works perfectly this year. Last year it worked but not well enough to actually see a whole game. New mesh router has really turned that formerly dead wifi spot live again. Nice.

The lights went out about 4:20. Zoey was not thrilled. She's always very chill with fire works and loud noises and marching bands along the street under the terrace. Turns out dead quiet is her kryptonite. It's now 7 pm and she's kind of calming down a little but still trying to figure out whatthefuckisgoingon.

Across the street, the apartments and the stadium all have electricity and lights on. I wonder if it's our block that's dark or just our building. I can't tell from here and I'm sure as shit not going down four floors of steps to find out cause there's no way I'd get back up.

T-Mobile is providing a nice data stream and my electronics are holding their own. I'm chewing through the Netflix stuff I downloaded. It feels cold in here but that's probably more my imagination than actual heat loss. The quiet is sure deafening. When the juice comes back on it's going to be quite the symphony at 4 am or whenever they flip the switch.
