Because it was a cheaper deal, I opted for the digital but also Sunday tree version delivered Seattle Times subscription. (The all digital was more expensive because advertisers pay more for tree version subscription numbers.)

Today was the first day in many many years that I had a newspaper at my door in the morning. I scooped it up early because I didn't want my neighbors to know I'm such a luddite.

And here's what I learned.

1. The front pages of the various sections led with stories that were online last week. I read one of them early last week.
2. The advertising sections are still kind of interesting to peruse through.
3. They still have Parade Magazine but it's tiny now.

Interesting. I'm so far enjoying the subscription even though neither the web version nor the app are such that I can log in and 'read' my way through easily. They both suck big time. But, their twitter feed is good enough that I can get the news I want fairly easily. We'll see how much I'm enjoying it when the $1 a week turns to $5 a week in a month.

I know from experience and [livejournal.com profile] badrobot68 reiterates, cancelling will be a major headache but I have a plan and I'm ready if I need to do it

The Rock and Roll Marathon ends about a block from here. So, yesterday I went to their very confusing website to make sure I could get to the pool. No prob. I thought.

I thought totally wrong.

I'm all suited up and in the car and I fucking can't get there. Plan A. Nope. So I head north to Plan B. Nope. Even further north. Nope. No way to get south from here. I need to get South West and west is water. So I gave up. The festivities are scheduled to be over by 4ish. I will no longer be interested in swimming by then.

I know from experience that skipping a swim day won't kill me. I will miss it but maybe this cold will not. It feels a tiny bit better than yesterday which was miserable. So I'm just going count this as a sick day and move on.

Maybe I'll make a new swim suit to compensate. I have the right stuff all ready. So, yeah, that's what I'll do.

Rock and Roll.

Shocking

I really enjoyed reading the tree killer paper this morning! I'll betcha it's been 5 or 6 years since I actually picked up a newspaper and held the pages in my hand. This morning I read it from page one to the last page of the last section and learned stuff I didn't know, found stuff I would have not found otherwise and was just shocked by what a good experience it was. Maybe I am a ludite.

I will say that it is abundantly clear who else is reading this paper. The ads are all for hearing aids, tubs you can sit in, walkers, retirement villages and incontinence fixes. On the up side, none of the models in these ads are size 000.

It is borderline kinky how much I love my new sewing machine. It has one critical stitch that I've never had on a machine. It's a stitch for sewing on stretchy fabrics. You can almost replicate on other machines but never get there totally. The swimsuit I made this morning is the best one I have ever made because I got to use that stitch. Plus it was the easiest and will be the nicest because it has the least sewing and the stitching is so smooth. Nothing to chafe.

I'm so delighted with it. I was almost tempted to toss the box but decided to wait the full 30 days. No sense in being reckless.

My nose is so tired of being blown. On the up side, at least I have enough tissues. My Amazon Subscribe and Save tissue shipment came in just last week.

The marathon is still ending outside. We in lulls of just crowd murmur noise punctuated with YEAH! You can do it!! Only 10 more feet!!! I kind of feel like I should get tracker points since they are preventing me from doing my own exercise. No bitter. nope.

Now it's time for the Mariner game.
