I do remember from moving that those few books you have on that one shelf becomes a massive library when you pack it into boxes. The same thing happened with my kitchen. I try to keep the kitchen clutter free. I like big patches of nothing on the counter. But holy fuck is there a lot of shit when you go to move it all off.

Plus this morning, the counter sales woman told me I needed to clear out under the sink and the open shelves I have under the counter. It's now all done and my living room is a mess. So much stuff!! Ugh.

Once everything was all off the counter, I grabbed the sponge to clean it off. And then remembered that it was all going into the bin - dirty is fine, thank you.

The counter peops will be here at '8 or a little after'. Since they didn't ask about parking until 6:45 this morning, I'm guess it will be closer to 8:30 as they try to find parking and then give up and pull into the parking lot and pay up. I'd be a little more sympathetic had they done a little more pre-planning. My expectations are really low about this whole counter top replacement experience and so far they are being met.

The cat is already unsettled since I had to move her food bowl. She'll get over it. She's pretty chill about stuff like this.

This morning, when I made the bed, I found cat fur on the sheet next to my pillow. She was not there when I went to sleep. And not there when I woke up. But sometime in the night, she grabbed a free snuggle which amuses me.

The glue smell lingers but the work is done and it looks so great. I really do love it. I love the color and the rounded edge.

But, now the rug clashes. Time for a new one. The woman at the laminate place just sent me a note saying she can't use my Discover card. 'we only take visa and mastercard'. Interesting since she happily charged the down payment to my Discover card. Weird.

And I made a t-shirt while they were laminating. It's a test of the pattern I made in class on Saturday and a 100% success. I made it out of the jersey bedsheet I bought at Goodwill and I think I like it maybe even more than the fancy dancy fabric I bought. What I wanted was a more fitted long sleeved t-shirt to wear under things that was nice enough to wear by itself, too. Score. I need to transfer the pattern to heavier paper and add it to my Favorite Pattern stack.

The jersey bedsheet thing was also pretty genius. I read that tip on Reddit and will be keeping an eye out for more.

Ok, I just interrupted this entry to shop for and buy a new rug. It may be a giant mistake but it's done now. I couldn't find anything I liked at Amazon. I bought this one at Overdrive. If I hate it, it's not going to be practical at all to return it. So... fingers crossed.

Speaking of returns, I need to make another Walmart run to return some stuff I got the other day. I think I'll go to the other one and hit up DK Market on the same trip and finally get some more of those Julie's crackers. I think I may just make that trip tomorrow.

Now I know

There is a gigantic slate of mayoral candidates in our primary coming up August 1. I have had my choice narrowed down to two for a while now. I haven't voted yet because I keep changing my mind between them. A or B?

Just now I rode up in the elevator with the woman who lives two doors down. She was on the city council for many many years and only ever speaks to me during campaigns when she introduces herself as if we have never met. Since she got voted out finally, she ran one more time and then gave up and has not introduced herself to me since. Besides finding her difficult as a person, I disagree with her politics and her decisions while on the council.

Today she's wearing a Vote For B t-shirt and carrying a sign saying Vote For B. To be honest, B is the one I was leaning away from anyway, but knowing that my neighbor thinks she's vote worthy is plenty enough reason for me to vote for A.

Decision made. Ballot filled out and ready to pop into the ballot box which is right next to the library which reminds me, I have CDs to return. Better get both of those onto the calendar!

p.s. I do love that my top two choices are women. Of the 21 people running, 6 are women. Seattle had the first woman first female mayor of a major American city. She served from 1926 to 1928. We have not had one since.
