Last March I went to a sewing expo. Mainly it was two giant fair ground buildings full of people selling stuff. And I bought most of it.

This morning, while I was swimming I was thinking of what I am going to sew next and decided on a vest. I designed a simple one in my head but then remembered... didn't I buy a vest pattern at that expo? When I got home, I dug out the pattern and found 2 other patterns and some purse hardware that I had bought at the expo. I am pretty damn sure I will never do anything with any of it except the vest pattern. I do think I'll use it today with major modifications. It does have a couple of good ideas I hadn't considered - mainly how to easily make it reversible by essentially making two vests and sewing them together in a mirrored fashion.

But, still, I really didn't need to buy all that shit. I have a hotel room reserved for next March's show. I should cancel and still might or maybe I'll be way smarter this time. Or maybe not. Yes, I'm looking many months of this internal argument.

I just finished reading the best book I've read all year and maybe in several years. The Force by Don Winslow. I read the audio version and it was just so very excellent in so many ways. I kept hitting rewind to recapture whole scenes because they were just so well done. And the story was one of the most thought provoking ones I've ever come across. I'm sure it will be a movie but the book is really movie enough.

Next up, one of my all time favorite series about LA Detective Bosch, now has a new family member. Michael Connelly's new series has book one all queued up and ready for me to start tonight.

No baseball today but I have for new Vera's to fall into so I'm not worried about entertainment.

Now I need to go figure out which fleece I'm going to use for my vest and which fabric I'm going to use for the other side...

I ran out of thread I needed and so had to go outside at 1 pm in the sun and it wasn't as bad as I expected. It's still pretty smokey out but not nearly as hot as I guessed, and not hot at all in the sun. Wow.

My vest is working out better than I expected it to. Except for the running out of thread part. My back was tired of being hunched over the machine and my podcast ended at a good stopping point so I'll finish up tomorrow.

Looks like the real estate bubble for this condo building is over. For the past 6 months, condos here in this 108 unit building have gone on sale and been snapped up in less than a week, some in as little as 2 or 3 days, for 10s of thousands over asking price - regardless of condition.

But, 12 days ago a woman down on the second floor put her unit up for sale - and it's still active now 12 days later. This is kind of karmic. This same woman has owned this unit for years. She has rented it out totally furnished down to the silverware as an executive rental but in the past few years has had trouble finding a renter.

About every 6 months or so she shows up at the home owners meeting with one gripe or another - never a legit one. During her tirades she never fails to mention that her unit is of the highest quality with 400 count Egyptian cotton sheets. Like any of us give a rats ass. The last two times she did this, when she got to the fucking sheets part of her tirade there were several who had trouble suppressing a giggle. She has put the place up for sale several times over the years always asking way too high (in my opinion) price and it's never sold. I'm not sure why she didn't put it on the market a few months ago. But, apparently, she's missed the window of opportunity... again...

Tonight there is the regular Home Owners Association meeting. At least there's no baseball conflict.

I'm starting a lung experiment today. I am down to one inhaler (from 3 + a rescue which I still have but never need). I'm going to try using that inhaler only every other day. My lung doctor told me that there is nothing that can be done for my COPD but manage symptoms. So... I'm going to do just that. If I can get by on 1/2 of an inhaler, I can save $800 a year PLUS when my lungs get worse the first step in the fix will be just to go back to every day. It's worth a shot. If it doesn't work, it doesn't work but if it does.... yahooo!
