Happy ears

My swim this morning was great. My broken ear is so much better that it's hard to remember to put in the drops. My earbuds kept the water from sloshing in and out. My ear was stopped up when I got out but it didn't take long to get the water out. So... mainly... whew!

Dear Trader Joe's, If you want to know which product you are going to discontinue next, you can just ask me what is my favorite. No love, me.

In January, they quit making/selling my favorite iced cinnamon rolls. This month they discontinued their holandaise sauce. Not only that, when I went to customer service to ask about it, I had to wait more than 5 minutes and then one of their 'associates' wandered by to ask what I wanted. When I asked about the holandaise sauce, she could not have been snippier. I'm thinking maybe it's time for me and Trader Joe's to break up.

I have had battery powered motion sensing light sconces in the kitchen for a few months. It keeps me from having to turn on the lights when I'm just in and out for something. Except. They eat up batteries like nobody's business. I started tracking and it turns out they want 4 new ones every 3 weeks or sooner. Too much. So today I replaced them with plug in ones that actually look way better and have more light.

I have to reputty and paint where the sconces came off the wall. That's my next chore.

I have a little tablet in the kitchen were I track dates. I had a note about when I last changed the sconce batteries and then one just below it - TB 8/3. I've been pondering over what the fuck TB is for about 3 weeks now. Just as I went to erase the sconce info, it came to me! Tooth Brush!! I use disposable vibrating toothbrush. I should swap out for a new one every month but I forget until the vibrating gets nearly not noticeable. So I made a quick note. It's now been changed to T Brush 8/3. I don't need to wear out my few remaining brain cells on stupid stuff.

The Mariners game is a morning game today which is nice. I haven't decided what's happening after. I have 7 innings to decide.

I can do a lot of things well if I really set my mind to it but the one thing I am really really good at is anticipatory planning. This came into play far more often when I was working than it does not but I still get to do it now and again.

I am very good at planning but even better at anticipating all the things that could go differently and making sure that my end point is successful simply because the interim steps suffered last minute changes.

I have no idea where this skill came from but it got me several great jobs and helped me make a couple of not great ones way better. It's a skill that particularly executives treasure in their staff. And it can get complicated.

You can't do what you need to do next until you get a signature. I go off to find the person for signing with both a list of alternate signers and where to find them as well as a way to work around the requirement if none of the signers are available. I plan to get our little group from x to y the easiest way and at least 3 other ways, just in case. And I do this type of stuff on the fly. Every time.

I had a boss one time who said of me 'Her plan A is usually golden but she always has B-Z ready to fire if needed.' That was a good 30 years ago and I am still wallowing in that compliment.

When I ripped down the wall sconce, the outer layer of wall board came with it. There was major wall booboo about the circumference of a coffee mug - paint, paper, texturing - all gone. But I fixed it. I did such a good job that after the paint dried, I almost couldn't tell where I patched. Ditto on the other wall, too. I'm delighted with the lights and the patches.

I just got a glass of water and filled it with little ice nuggets. Zoey, the cat, hopped up to get a drink as she is frequently wont to do. Next thing I know, she'd speared couple of little nuggets and she flipped out - it was hilarious. I think she's pissed off about all these dogs all over social media today.

I went out to the Living Computer Museum. They are having a little fair today and then I stopped at a little flea market nearby. Nothing interesting and my hips started hurting so I took them through the McDonald's drive-in and got a Rolo McFlurry. Quite delicious.

I think I'm in for the rest of the day now. I have stuff to watch and knitting to do and, plus, I dripped McFlurry on my shirt so it's either stay in or change shirts. Who needs more laundry?! Not me.
